Fun Monday: Sweet Little Lies

Today's Fun Monday is hard and is being hosted by Theotherbear and Uncaringbear. They asked us to:

Share with us a little white lie that you may, or may not, have gotten away with. Perhaps it's something more sinister than a little white lie - maybe even a deep dark secret that you've kept buried for years! All the better! Now's your chance to get it off your chest and confess: "Yes, I did eat that last slice of cheese cake", "No, I wasn't washing my hair that Saturday", "Those pants do make you look fat"!

I have had the hardest time trying to think of a lie. When I told my BFF to go check out the assignment I then asked her," How the HELL am I drawing a blank???" My bestest friend in the whole wide world said,"Because once you create a lie it becomes the truth. How can you remember it when you begin to believe it!" I immediately told her to,"SHUT UP!" I know that she was just pullin' my chain but she is right and oh so wise and sage-like!!

I know I lied LOADS as a child and as a teenager...and as a young adult. All harmless lies.
Like when my kids ask me if there are any more Ice cream sandwiches I say "No."When I was 16 and 17 I would lie and say I was 18 to get into clubs and then once I was 18 I'd lie and say I was 21 to get in and drink. Or like when I was single and out at bars and was asked to dance I'd say "No, thank you. I am waiting for my boyfriend." Or if I was talking to a guy and was asked if I was seeing anyone I'd say "YES." when I really wasn't. I even went so far as to wear an engagement ring to the clubs in hopes to ward off men. Whoa! I was totally full of myself... oh wait I still am! Go check out the post below this one! Self love baby!! Who said I was modest?

I am really good at the truth when its not really the truth but it is the truth. Like when people use to ask me where I worked I would say "I work at a bar." which was totally true!!! Or when I would come home as a teenager after a night of partying sometimes my Mom would be sitting up waiting for me and she would ask if I had been drinking. I could truthfully say "No."!

When it comes to someone wanting my opinion...I can not tell a lie there. I will tell you if the jeans make you look fat. I will tell you your new haircut looks hideous. I will tell you that shade of lipstick is not your color. Only if those things are true in my opinion. But I will not offer up what I think if I am not asked. Don't ask I won't tell! So if I give you a compliment then you know beyond a shadow of doubt that I am sincere!

Now if you want to talk secrets....I have LOADS of those. I guess they aren't really secrets due to a few ppl knowing about what happened either by being there or by my re-telling. Yesterday my mom and I were talking about a neighbor having a B-day sleep over for her son. She said "I could never have more than one over for you." I called BS "I know of at least one B-day slumber party you had for me that had at least 4 other girls besides me. I remember drinking shots of Peppermint Schnapps in dixie cups." My Mom promptly said my FULL name in shock and horror!!! I said "What??? It's not like I lied about anything." I really thought I had already shared that with her.Oops! Neither Fianna, my Mom, nor myself can remember which B-day that was for certain. I'm really thinking it was 10. I have tons of those kinds of "secrets" they aren't lies and I guess not really secrets and not lies of omission either. So what are they called??

I am feeling like a very bad bad girl. I am going to go read my self love meme to feel better again. If you want to go check out other lies or those that are too good to lie like WT(yeah right!) those too uncomfortable to talk about lies (sorry WT!) then head over to the Bear's cottage.

what were your doing at the parties???

I do the same thing as your mom when I'm talking with my daughters. They bring up stuff as tho I knew what they were doing and I'm totally dumbfounded. How come I didn't know this. I thought I was a smart mother.

I didn't say I haven't lied, I said I don't like talking about it.

By the way, the Uncaringbear husband has also posted his secrets now - be sure to visit again to compare how sweet his story is compared to my evil.

and hang on - where did my earlier comment go????
I possibly posted it on some stranger's site. They are now sitting wondering what the heck the comment on dixie cups and peppermint schnapps is all about.

Yeah - I've done that with my mom a time or two, thinking I told her (now that I'm an adult and she can't punish me) about some transgression, and then she would look at me with horror. Like she totally missed out on punishing me!

I haven't told my parents this one, or the ones involving all the liquor "hidden" on the floor of their closet. Sorry Mom, Dad and Kaytabug's mom!

But I really don't know how your mom can't remember the slumber parties (I can think of 2 at your place). We woke her up, we wrote all over that girl's face (on a Saturday night - very religious family) and froze her bra. Now really, how can you forget these things! The guilt I feel....

Traveling through these Fun Monday blogs, I am remembering forgotten indiscretions. I too claimed to be 21 more than a few times.

You were drinking Peppermint Schnapps in Dixie cups at age 10? You and Fianna were a very adventuresome girls.

Peppermint Schnapps at the age of 10?! LOL Wow! I can't help but wonder how all those little 10 year old tummies handled it.

I thought I left this comment earlier...
When I was in high school, my friend and I were scheduled to take cup cakes to Home Ec. and sell them to raise money for FHA. We chose chocolate cherry flavor and instead of using water to mix with the frosting, we used Cherry Schnapps. Those 8 dozen cupcakes sold in record time.

I am going to go hide my Peppermint Schnapps from my kids.

Are you my sister? You two sound suspiciously alike. I don't think the world is up for another meme about little old me, but I'll play in 4 days. I have a story to tell, your etherealness.

I feel a bit like your mum and Pamela when I find out about things my girls did as children (they let things slip when blogging- beccy and the skirt!!)- I always prided myself they couldn't get away with anything guess I got that one wrong!

I totally wore a ring to ward of guys too. :) I never lied to get in a bar, I really don't drink much but I worked at a bar for a while and I definitely wanted all the patrons to believe that I was with someone.

I never wore a ring to ward of guys, I just told them I was not interested in them at the moment.

I always seem to attract a-holes and retards. *LOL*

Lady K: Thanks for tagging me with the "Love Me" MeMe...you can bet that I will certainly follow-up on it as soon as I can. Right now, I am ""loving my time with my oldest daughter just prior to her wedding and "loving" that I survived breast cancer and am here to celebrate this occasion.
