I love you guys!

Truly I do. All of you made me feel all warm and fuzzie inside, the good kind, not the kind I had been feeling all week! You guys ROCK!! I had the biggest smile on my face when I read all of your comments from yesterday! Thank you! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO You all are the BEST!!
I am feeling a tad bit better today. Yesterday was okay too. I got done the main things in the house I wanted to before their arrival and at least I wasn't still doing stuff when they arrived. I did have to do what I call the clean sweep...sweeping everything off a flat surface into a box to be dealt with at a later time. It is just one of the many things in my arsenal of clutter cleaning tricks!!

My in-laws are not evil. I just wanted to clarify cuz I am sure I have given that impression. We actually get a long okay. They are just a different kind of people. They are hard to read and that is what I do, read people. I get uncomfortable when I can't read someone. I think that a lot of my anxiety about their visits is all self imposed. My unrealistic and high ideals of what I think they expect of me. So pretty much I suck and what I put myself through is all my fault. Will any of this realization change anything for me....I think not!

Fianna, when are you gonna come and play? My in-laws brought us a Wii!!!!!!!!!

Sick

I have been sick since Monday night. I was up most of the night with crud coming out both ends, at the same time!!! Halfway through my sick-fest my middle son wakes up with a nightmare, he goes back to sleep with me on the couch only to wake up an hour later tossin' his cookies. For me it went on throughout the night. All day Tuesday I was laid up on the couch writhing in pain. I had a fever for most of the day, I drank water and ate saltines. I went to bed with the most horrible headache and pain in my gut. Yesterday I woke up with the same headache. I finally was rid of the headache by about noon time but I was still extremely weak and moving slow.

Why have I shared all of this? Because today is the day the in-laws arrive. I was sick during my final countdown days of cleaning and hardly anything has gotten done. Since the hubby doesn't care what the house looks like for his parents visit he hasn't helped at all. So here I sit at 5 in the fucking AM wide awake because I had ANOTHER FUCKING SPLITTING HEADACHE! I immediately took a 800 motrin and now it's just dull. I laid in bed for at least 45 minutes before getting up, trying to go back to sleep...I finally gave up. I figure if the hubs got up before 5 and went to work so can I. Yesterday I wasn't able to get much done due to being so weak. I would start something and within 5 to 10 minutes I'd have to stop and sit down. I was lightheaded. I just can't afford to still be that way today. I hope I can get a lot done this AM.

The only good thing about this morning besides the birds singing is that I finally figured out how to get the hubs out of bed and stop hitting his fucking snooze button. Want to know the secret? Fianna I know you do, listen up...it is so easy! Start asking him questions! "What do you want for dinner tonight? What meals should we make while your parents are here? What do they like to eat for breakfast? Man my head is killing me! Should we just wait until they are here, let them decide what they want to eat and then go to the store?"
He warned me that tomorrow his alarm will be going off at 3AM and that he doesn't plan on getting up until 4. Game on!

In-law arrival t-minus 11 hours and counting.

The Perfect Teacher

My oldest is officially a 6th grader, says he. He has had the hardest year yet in his school career this past year. He had a teacher that was not suited for him. I'm trying to be nice because I heart teachers. You have the great ones the mediocre ones the crappy ones. I think the ones that only do it to have a job and the ones that need to retire are in the crappy crowd. As much as I dislike his 5th grade teacher, I am aware that there could have been worse.

He is the type of kid that loves to please. If he likes you he will try his hardest to please you. This translates into homework or seat work. If he likes a teacher he will always try his hardest to do what they ask of him. If he doesn't like the teacher he could give 2 fucks what he does for them. The later was this year.

In an attempt keep from having a repeat of this past year in 6th grade I have to email a list of attributes I would like my sons teacher to posses to a couple of staff members that are involved in student placement.(The Principle does not allow teacher requests.Instead asks for attributes to match to a teacher.) This is no guarantee. Especially since he is in Specialized instruction for Math. They tend to have just a couple of teachers that take all the kids that go to specialized instruction so that the schedules and instruction times don't conflict. So to me this means that my request is all in vain. I will always have hope. I plan on writing in there the difficult year he had with his 5th grade teacher and that it is imperative that he be placed with a teacher that has a majority of the attributes I list. All are things that the 5th grade teacher, in my opinion, does not posses. Just in case this might help someone else I will share the list. It is LONG. Feel free to scroll down.

*Positive attitude
*Praises students OFTEN
*Empathy
*Enthusiasm
*Provides positive reinforcement
*Students easily detect the teacher's love for job and subject
*Support and concern for students
*Takes time with students
*Allows for creativity

*Clarifies for understanding
*Creates a sense of fun with the learning task
*Avoids criticizing students
*Is fair
*Allows for spontaneity
*Has a sense of humor; is relaxed
*Has a kind spirit
*Is sensitive to students' mistakes, they take time to help students
overcome their mistakes through patient, clear instruction.
*comfortable atmosphere
*Keeps accurate records of: Work completed, Grades
*Variety in teaching, variety provides for renewed interest in the
subject matter. Use variety in how they have students work together,
not always pairing the same ones together. They provide a variety
of learning activities.

*Is willing/open to allow/try behavioral interventions and make classroom accommodations/modifications for child with ADHD.

*Has a good rapport with parents

*Has a good line of communication with parents

*Avoids rushing students

Itchy and Scratchy

I have atopic eczema, I've had it all my life. Recently I have been dealing with some pretty big flare ups. I had to get a referral to see the Derm., then wait for an appointment. When I was finally able to see the Derm Thursday my flare up wasn't that bad. But, yesterday? It was bad. I was so pissed off! I'm still pissed off!
I was so extremely itchy, it drove me up the wall! There is nothing worse than being itchy and greasy from all the moisturizers and steroid ointments. I want new skin.

Today we are heading to the country. My friend and I are going to make shish kabobs on the grill. I just help with the prep work. We are also going to make breakfast tacos! Yum Yum! I don't know why she calls them tacos, they are frickin' burritos. I had never ate one before she made them for me, so they will forever be her breakfast tacos.

I haven't done much of anything to my house for the in-law visit. Little things that don't add up to shit. That's okay I work so much better under pressure. dumm dumm dumm dee dee dum dum...under pressure. Plus the least amount of time spent keeping the kids from destroying all that hard work all the better I say.
Have a fanfuckingtastic weekend!

It's just hair

I got my hair cut yesterday. For many months now I have been growing out my bangs. For the past 2 months my bangs weren't the only hairs on my head I was letting grow. It is much shorter now, just how I like it. I might even go a lil bit shorter when I go to get it highlighted.
I have been trying to search for an image of my hairstyle but no luck. It is similar to an inverted bob but spiky short in the back and the longer part is cut at a drastic angle.

The hubs had been growing his hair out and had a typical military haircut, but not too high and not too tight. He had enough on top he could spike it up with gel if he wanted to. I really liked it. For at least a month now he has been talking about shaving it all off. I kept telling him I didn't want him to that I liked it. He comes home tonight bald. My middle guy really dislikes it. So much so that at one point he told his Daddy that he doesn't love him anymore because he is bald. It will take getting used to for all of us. I used to love his bald head but now...well...what happens in the garage stays in the garage....I'll get used to it again. I love him no matter what he does with his hair.

The oldest wants to grow his out. The way he tried to describe it to me was that he long on one side and shaved on the other, basically he wants to look like an 80's skater boy! I told him we need to look at some pictures so we can show my friend the end result he wants.I keep hoping that at some point this summer he will ask for it to be cut. It is thick and he gets so hot and sweaty very fast. Oh well.

Fun What?

I am 0 for 2. This is ridiculous. I really thought I could easily get a picture of one of my collections up this past Monday. I took the photos and then never got it up. It was such a great topic for me. I have many collections. I have the shot glasses that I started collecting from each state I have been to as an adult. I have hat pins from all the states I have been to when I was a child.
I have a collection of photos, magazines, stationary, books, VW bugs and buses, none that I can drive :(
I also collect Teddy bears
The pillow my Grandma(my Mom's Mom) made for me when I was 13 or 14. This collection of Teddy bears isn't even my entire collection. So at least now you have seen one of my collections. Sorry Mariposa.

I am still going to be MIB, hopefully not as much. My Mom left this AM. As of today I have only 7 days to get this house ready for the dreaded yearly in-law visit. I have a lot to do. I am sure it is worse in my mind than it actually is, that there is more to be done than there actually is. But nothing will get done if I get sucked into the black hole that is my computer. In 2 weeks I should get back to my regular programming!! I really should be able to get out a few posts over the next week, I hope. Don't hold me to it though!

My Apologies

Dear Bev,

I am so extremely sorry that I signed up for your first ever hosting of FM and then I didn't even post. I am upset with myself. I have been feeling rather guilty over the whole thing. This is just one of the many self inflicted things I do. I just wanted to publicly apologize to you for being such a ginormous JERK. Hey, look at that! I shared a way that I am a jerk!

Seriously Bev, I am really sorry. It's not like me to blow off something I said I'd do. Oh wait, there was that peanut thingy I told a special someone I'd do and NEVER did. So there you have 2 things. I have plenty more jerky qualities, it wasn't for lack of, I'll share more with you sometime.
Now I bet everyone thinks I am a complete dohtard for feeling bad about all this but it is what it is, I am who I am...

Everything is okay with me. Thanks for the email! I know it seems I have fallen of the face of the earth but alls well in Kaytabug land. My younger 2 boys had their last week of preschool this past week. They had the cutest performance on Thursday. To tell the truth the past couple of days I have been a tad sad. My 5 yr old, the middle guy, starts Kindergarten in the fall. And I am just plain bummed. I have had a busy week. The weather has been nice. When it is this nice I just want to be outside, so I have done a lot of that too.
My Mom arrived last Friday and it is really hard to blog around her...she is always asking what I am doing. So I have only had my computer on about 3 times in the past week. I still do not want to tell her about it, she would never understand.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend too! I will probably be MIB(Missing In Blogland) for another week. I'm hoping I'll get back to my regularly scheduled programing soon.

HUGS!!

Love,
Kaytabug

ps. I loved Michale Johns, but I love me some David Cook too. I am totally buying their albums. Who's your fave on Dancing w/the Stars? I'm torn between the 2 C's...but that Cristiàn is muy caliente!!

A Baby Shower

Swampy is hosting a baby shower for Karmyn today. She said the sky's the limit but my gift is actually going to be very affordable.

When I first saw this a few weeks ago I was pissed that I hadn't found it before I had my 3rd baby. This should totally help out with her ever increasing Mommy Brain, you know it gets worse with each child. Karymn, I give you the Baby Care Timer.
If you'd like to buy it or read more about it go HERE.
Congrats Karmyn! Here's wishing you a smooth delivery! Make sure you head back over to the Swamp to see what everyone else is giving Karmyn.

Curiosity Killed the...

Every once in a while I check my stats to see where people come from, you know how they found me. I clicked on one that found me through a search engine called dogpile. It pulls up the search results page. They had typed in the search box "lady.k.51". I was listed towards the bottom of the page, but something caught my eye. Being the curious lil kitty I am I clicked on it. Here's what I found. Yet another reason I need to change my name. I am confused with some singer named Lady K, and now this! Did you happen to see that purple one? I liked it. Damn. If they weren't over priced I'd have a new favorite site!!

I went to go look at my Keyword activity. I guess it's been a while since the last time I checked because none of the ones they listed were funny anymore. Wait, there was 1.
"came in pants" Seriously? Why do you need to put that in a search engine? What you need to do is just go wash your fucking pants! Just in case your dirty lil minds think I have written about coming in my pants THIS is the post that came up for that search. Well, there was that one post....

Let it Rain

I am sorry if yesterday's post showed up a zillion times in anyone's Bloglines or whatever else they are called. I had some serious issues with the frickin' text. I didn't have time to redo the entire post from scratch so after trying several times to fix it I just had to give up and leave it all fuckered up!

I still haven't visited all those that came by on Fun Monday. I didn't even get around to my daily reads yesterday. Had a semi busy day. I waste my mornings. Then jam too much into my afternoons. I am heading the same way for today too. I registered my middle guy for Kindergarten yesterday. That was bittersweet. Had to hit the grocery store and I still forgot
things, so I will have to go back today. My recycles are piling up, literally. The in laws come for their annual visit in 22 days. That means I only have 3 weekends to get my house in order and keep it maintained. The hubs doesn't care what the house looks like. I think he's lost his marbles. I've tried to explain to him that they won't judge him on the state of the house, they will judge me. Maybe it's all in my head.

Oh! I finally got a shot of the female Oriole!! They are poor quality due to me taking the photo through the kitchen window, the bottom part of the window. So not only through the glass but through the black screen. Click on it to big it you'll see a little more detail.
One of these days I am going to sit out on my deck and try to get some decent shots. I still want to get a photo of the young male oriole.

So much for me walking. The rest of this week is nothing but fucking rain. I hear the lovely thunder as I type. Fear not! I will be doing my stairs, the stairs in my home. I will turn on the music and just go up and down the stairs, boring but it's exercise. I haven't decided how many minutes...I guess I should go for 30. Maybe 15 minutes this AM and 15 minutes this afternoon/evening. I better get to it so I can take a shower before taking the lil ones to preschool. Fuck you diabetes. Your not welcome here.

Ounce of Prevention

I have talked about my numbers before, and how I need to get up off my ass and exercise. Today I would like to share the main reason behind my desire to get fit and loose weight. It isn't about my self esteem it's really about preventing a disease, Diabetes. I have always known it was something I might develop. After finding out my # and what that made my BMI I started reading up more on diabetes. I copied the Risk factors into this post for easier reading. I have highlighted my risk factors in green.

The following is from the Mayo Clinic Website:

Risk factors

Researchers don't fully understand why some people develop type 2 diabetes and others don't. It's clear that certain factors increase the risk, however, including:

  • Weight. Being overweight is a primary risk factor for type 2 diabetes. The more fatty tissue you have, the more resistant your cells become to insulin.
  • Inactivity. The less active you are, the greater your risk of type 2 diabetes. Physical activity helps you control your weight, uses up glucose as energy and makes your cells more sensitive to insulin.
  • Family history. The risk of type 2 diabetes increases if a parent or sibling has type 2 diabetes.
  • Race. Although it's unclear why, people of certain races — including blacks, Hispanics, American Indians and Asian Americans — are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
  • Age. The risk of type 2 diabetes increases as you get older, especially after age 45. Often, that's because people tend to exercise less, lose muscle mass and gain weight as they age. But type 2 diabetes is increasing dramatically among children, adolescents and younger adults.
  • Prediabetes. Prediabetes is a condition in which your blood sugar level is higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes. Left untreated, prediabetes often progresses to type 2 diabetes.
  • Gestational diabetes. If you developed gestational diabetes when you were pregnant, your risk of developing type 2 diabetes later increases. If you gave birth to a baby weighing more than 9 pounds, you're also at risk of type 2 diabetes.
About the race, I'm not quite sure if it really plays a factor for me since I am so far removed but my father swears there is Native American blood in our vain and it comes from his Mom's side of the family. My Dad has Type 2 Diabetes, his Mom had Type 2 Diabetes, her father had Type 2 Diabetes and I will bet that his Mom or Dad had it too but diabetes didn't have a name that far back.
I never had Gestational diabetes, but I gave birth to a baby weighing more than 9 pounds!
I haven't been checked for Prediabetes but I wouldn't be surprised if I had it at this point. I will be making a DR appointment to get my blood sugar level checked. I am also going to start walking and then hit the gym. As inactive as I have been this past year I need to start off slow and work my way to the gym. I need to take action NOW to do everything I can to prevent developing diabetes.

Fun Monday My Heroes

Kitten is this weeks lovely hostess and she has chosen a wonderful topic. She wants to know who the heroes in our life are.

This was too easy.

My Grandfather.

Not only because he served in WWII and the Korean War, he was also more of a Dad to me than my father was/is. Maybe everything he did was just what Grandpas do. He will always be my hero.

My Grandma.

She was amazing. She cooked, baked, crocheted, sewed clothes, she loved to garden....
She tried to teach me all of those things and the only one that really stuck was the love of gardening. Just the love, none of her skills. The one thing that sticks out most for me that she did get drilled into my brain at a very young age was feminism. She never called it that, and I think she just laid the groundwork for me. She let me know that I didn't have to put up with or take shit from any man. She had many talks with me on this subject. They ranged from sex, to abuse both verbal and physical, to my finances. In retrospect I think she was just trying to keep me from making the same mistakes she made. I still had to learn the hard way a couple of times but her words, our talks would always be in the back of my mind. She gave me strength, she helped shape the woman I have become.

My Mom, almost all single Mom's are Heroes in my eyes. There are many, many more reasons why my Mom is a hero for me. Her being a single Mom to a most rebellious daughter is just one of the MANY reasons she is my Hero.

My Hubby.
He puts up with me, that's reason enough right there!! He is my own personal warrior. He is the most courageous man in my life.

Head back to Kitten's to see more Heroes!

Orange Crush

I am slow on the take most days. It just dawned on me this morning that I should write a blog post before I start my morning blog reading. Especially if I have something in mind. I am smacking my forehead and saying D'oh!

I am so behind with house work it's just disgusting. Laundry is beyond piled up. It's not just the laundry... I'll leave it at that.. Tuesday I got a call from the volunteer coordinator for the school district and said she had a lot of things and wondered if I could help out with any of them. I am a dumb ass. I have a hard time saying no. This would normally not be a big deal but since agreeing I have been feeling like everything is piling up on me. To top it off I volunteered during the time my boys are in preschool...and that's when I try to get my stuff done. Also they don't go to preschool on Friday's so Thursday afternoons are my last chance to get stuff done without them. I know, I know cry me a river. I'll stop whining and complaining now.

The hummingbirds have been here for 2 weeks already. I have one feeder up so far, with 2 more I am planning on getting up. Yesterday morning I was standing at the kitchen sink and I froze. A huge bird landed on the hummer feeder I have outside my kitchen window. I just stared at it frozen for a long time. I saw that same bird the day before, but it had just landed on my deck railing. It was the first time I had ever seen a Oriole with my own eyes!! So yesterday I spent most of my morning trying to get a picture of that Oriole. They are extremely skiddish. But I finally got him!

I know they are not good quality since they are through the window and I didn't use a flash so I wouldn't scare it away. Click it to big it and you can see more detail. I put 2 orange halves in my mini willow tree. I have seen them sitting in it so I thought that would be a good place. I looked at Wally world for a Oriole feeder but didn't find one. I'll check Lowe's, and then the internet. I can always count on the internet! I already checked, just wanted to try to get it here.
Happy May Day!
