Today's Fun Monday hostess is none other than Robin @ Pensieve. She has asked us to share our favorite and/or inspiring quotes.
As far back as the age of 8 I have collected quotes. Whenever I saw a quote that spoke to me I would write it down. I have a whole folder full of pieces of paper with quotes written on them. I would write quotes on my notebooks at school. I LOVE quotes. The only hard part about this assignment was choosing a FEW of my favorites!!
This first one I heard on one of my NPR most emailed stories podcasts, while my hubby was deployed during '05/'06. I had it posted on my fridge and read it daily. I would read it many, many times throughout the course of a day.
" We are not given the burdens we deserve, we are given the burdens we can bear."
I don't know who originally said the quote, but it became my mantra.
"Beauty is everywhere - only some can see it. ~ Confucius
Here are three that I didn't write down who said it or where I found them when I stumbled upon them....
" A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you today just the way you are."
"Value yourself. The only people that appreciate a doormat are people with dirty shoes."
" Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
"Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood. Is it so bad to be misunderstood then? ... To be great is to be misunderstood ." ~ Emerson
"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far you can go." ~T.S. Elliot
"It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. ~ Kahlil Gibran
" Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive."
~ Anäis Nin
"Just living is not enough...one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower." ~Hans Christian Andersen
"If Presidents don't do it to their wives, they do it to their country." ~ Mel Brooks
Alrighty then, so that was just a tiny sampling of my favorites. I had to force myself to stop. Go back to Robin's for the entire list of folks participating this week. I am totally looking forward to reading what EVERY ONE'S favorite quotes are!

Wonders of Mother Nature
Last night we had a hail storm, gale winds, thunder, lightning, torrential rains, and a Tornado Warning. What does any good ole Kansas girl do? Go outside and take pictures!
The first one was taken during the worst of the hail storm, right about the time the weather channel said a tornado was supposed to hit our town. I think I need to be a storm chaser.
My tulips and the hail.

This is the sky out front right after the hail stopped.
Here is our back deck.
The sky out back, right after I took the last picture.
This is what I saw when I looked up.

Isn't Mother Nature a beautiful wondrous sight to behold?!

Thankyouverymuch!
Get it? Do you "hear" my impersonation? I bet Nikki will.
I have been feeling bad for not showing off her talent and her total awesomeness. I entered her Elvis Sighting contest and I won! Go me! I received my prize last Monday, not the 2 days ago Monday either the week and 2 days ago Monday. I have been feeling bad that I haven't showed off her fantastic artistic talent to everyone.
I haven't had my computer on much since I received my package from Nikki. I shut it off and never turned it back on until this past Sunday night. I only turned it on to do my FM post.
Anyway, nobody cares about my drivel. Let's get on to Nikki's fabulous art!!
WOW! Right?!!! It totally fucking ROCKS!!! I also received a CD that she made with a few of her favorite Elvis songs. I have been listening to it while I have been composing this post. It fucking kicks ass!!! I know you are saying that you are jealous as all hell.
Thanks again babe! I wouldn't have this one of kind piece of art if it weren't for those that voted for my entry...knowingly or unknowingly, I thank you!!!

Fun Monday AhBayCay's
Todays lovely hostess is none other than the Swamp Queen, her royal swampiness Swampwitch.
This was the first time I signed up for a Fun Monday NOT knowing what the heck the assignment was. I threw caution to the wind and said fuckit sign me up! When I found out what her assignment was I said fuck many more times and in many different variations too!

Fun Monday Words

Happy St. Paddy's Day! Today's FM is being hosted by the absolutely fucking brilliant Nikki. She has asked us to share our made up words or a green beer story.
I have never drank green beer, I don't think I have ever been drunk on St. Paddy's day either. If I have I don't remember it and there have been many times I have been so drunk I don't remember it...so maybe I have!
Made up words then...humm... well there was just a week or so ago I gave you concernieosity, that is when one is concerned and a tad curious at the same time.
Then there is my favorite that my middle son made up to describe my belly fat....squooshy
not squishy, smooshy,or squashy it is squooshy.
I'm sure there are more but I feel brain dead today. Go check out the other participants to see what homemade words they've got cookin', or greentastic beer stories they might have to share!

The clip
In my Fun Monday post yesterday I shared a movie quote and asked if anyone knew what movie the quote was from without using the internet as help. I said that the person who knew what movie it came from would get nothing but the satisfaction of knowing they totally ROCK. I forgot to mention that I'd also want to be their best friend.
The quote was, "Fuck me gently with a chainsaw." The only person to guess got it right, Miss Tiggerlane!! She guessed "Heathers". Here is the clip as promised.

Fun Monday The Quotables
The IT Guy is today's Fun Monday host. He has asked us to share 5 movie quotes from 5 different movies, and who we have or would say them to in real life.
1. "Your stunned silence is very reassuring." from the movie Monsters, Inc. said by Roz to Mike.
I say this to my hubby and/or my kids on a daily basis.
2. "HEED!! Move!" (said with Scottish accent) from the movie So I Married an Axe Murderer, said by Stuart Mackenzie to his son. Ever since my oldest sons head blocked my view of the T.V. I started yelling it, with the Scottish accent too. I say it to all the heeds that block the T.V.screen now!
3. "Take care of you." from the movie Pretty Woman, Kit says it to Vivian and Vivian says it back to Kit. Over the years my 3 BFF's (the ones I have had since Kindergarten) and I have said that to each other. I would close letters to them with that line, we end I.M.'s with that line...
4. "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" from the movie Wizard of Oz, said by Dorothy Gale, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man. I say this when I am on my way to a ZOO, and while I am at the ZOO!
5. "Remember my dear, I can smell a lie like a fart in a car." from the movie Pump up the Volume, said by Mark Hunter. I have not said this,it will become an old stand by for me to say to my 3 boys!!!!!
One extra one...I have said this quote many times before....it just doesn't doesn't come out much in my life anymore...I really, really wanted to say it..."Fuck me gently with a chainsaw." Anyone that knows what movie it was said in WITHOUT using the internet to figure it out gets nothing but the satisfaction of knowing that you totally ROCK. Let me know though, I will want to praise you tomorrow when I share the clip.
Now go back to IT Guy's to check out the list of participants and read more movie quotes!!

Bull Crap!
Is it just me or does getting behind a Student Driver annoy the fuck out of you??
I must have NO patience. I know I was late getting my younger 2 to preschool. I had already made it a 1/3 of the way there when I had to turn around to go back home to get my wallet and ID card that was in my winter coat. So I was even later, and then I got stuck behind a student driver going insanely slow, it was a double solid line so no legal passing to be had. The dope swerved big time over the white line into the shoulder. I was trying very hard not to ride his 25 mph ass. It was a 55mph zone. I knew he was going to turn up ahead and yet as soon as he put on his blinker I still illegally passed him. I just couldn't take it any longer. I was probably only behind him 2 minutes but I tell ya I had zero patience yesterday. I suck.
I have got to sift out the cat box today...now that is craptastic, but not as craptastic as what's going on in Nikki's life lately. I heard a saying on the news last night that cracked me UP!!!
"Let me translate that from bull crap to English for you." Let's just say Glenn Beck is my new favorite news guy to watch. I do not agree with all of his personal views but the man makes me laugh while reporting the news and I need more laughter these days, especially in the news!
I also have laundry pile up, much like a car pile up. This is where the dirty laundry is overflowing AND I have 5 baskets of clean laundry to fold and put away. I am getting really tired of digging through the baskets trying to find an item of clothing, for either myself or my kids. Time to get to work!

Struggles
Just want to thank those of you that showed such concernieosity(yes, I just made that up) on my Leap Day post. I said it was an internal struggle over something RIDICULOUS! It was silly and ridiculous. Not worthy of the time wasted struggling over it in my mind. I only blurted it out on my blog for lack of anything to write about. It was a thought that crossed my mind and I typed it down. I will try to be more careful about what I type down on my blog. Part of me wanted to do one thing the other part something else and I was fighting with myself about something stupid. I do this a lot. I should have spared all you caring folks from my silliness!
I spent all that time cleaning the living room carpet only to have mud tracked in from the dog and kids on Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes I hate my life. This makes me want to go to Lowes, get a floor detail, buy laminate flooring, have them install it...all to make my life a tiny bit easier and a little less stressful...if only for the next year and a half. That is about how long we will be in this house, that we just bought a year and a half ago. Yeah, we didn't think this through to well. Since ya'll want to hear a struggle here's one that is not so silly. Do we spend the $$ to put laminate in our living room area when we are selling in a year and half and know that we will not get that $$ back in the selling price? Or do we just deal with the almost white unforgiving 5 year carpet that is now 8 years old?
A month after we bought the house we had vinyl fencing and chain link installed for our backyard. We won't get that $$$ back in the sell of our house either. I think we will be lucky to have our house sell for the amount we bought it for. We will need to replace the carpets on the stairs...the cats have used it for a scratching post even thought they have and use the BIG cat tower we bought them when we first moved in. If we can't get some stains out downstairs we may have to replace those carpets too. Then we will have to paint the entire house, interior. Remember the wall art my younger 2 have blessed me with? The concrete drive way is cracked and sunk in a little in one place. Oh, and we will have to replace the window in my oldest sons room. The part that you use as leverage to push up to open the window, I think it is called a sash? it broke off, is not fixable and will just need to be replaced. Theses are the things I can think of, then you have the inspection and whatever the buyers want you to fix...
Part of me thinks it is a waste of $$$ to put in laminate in our main living area. The $$$ spent would be worth bringing down my stress level, and the ease of cleaning up after 3 boys and 2 dogs. It also would be a good selling point for our house over another comp. house with only carpet. Any ideas? Suggestions?
So much for March coming in like a lamb. We did have a high of 67 on Saturday and 77 on Sunday though it was very windy. Yesterday we had sleet and snow and a high of 30. Same for today. I know I shouldn't complain...I am thankful I am not in WI or MI. I feel sorry for those of you that are! Winter can kiss my ass.

Fun Monday Our Movie
The lovely, talented Janet is our host for this Fun Monday. She wants to know who would play us in a movie of our life and give her a little synopsis of the movie.
This was so hard for me. I have no short synopsis for you. Just some eye candy.
I was torn as to who should play me and I still think I haven't found the RIGHT one. Oh well. I am not as hot as either of these women but it is my movie, let me dream... I am not as short as them either...
The first is Janeane Garofalo
and Ashley Judd
My hair looks like hers in this photo except a lil shorter and with blonde highlights.
My hubs does not have long hair or dimples.

Excuse me. I am a lil hot and bothered. Please go check out the list of participants that did what Janet asked!
