Fun Monday 2nd Anniversary!

Today is the 2 year anniversary of Fun Monday. Julie at Another Chance Ranch is the hostess today and she would like us to show the view from our front door but not the view looking out our front door, but rather the view looking into our house from our front door!

I didn't do any cleaning so you get to see the true, real life view from my front door looking in!
If you want to see more inside views head over to Julies Ranch.

Fun Monday Photo's

This weeks hostess is the lovely Angela from The Lurchers. She has asked to see our favorite photograph and for us to tell you why it is out favorite. She did say that it could be photos we have taken or a photo someone else took. Since I will not be able to choose just one it will be a lil of both!

I am very sentimental. I could share photos of family members and it wouldn't mean Jack to you. I have many photos of loved ones that mean the world to me. Here are just a few of those.
My Grandpa P.(P for paternal)

My first born, his First Birthday. This is my favorite photo from that day.

My paternal Grandparents and myself on one of the cross country trips they took me on.

Pictures tell my life story. Granted they are mostly filled with shinny happy moments, but they still remind me of days gone by, moments in time that I have long since forgotten. My memory is not that good so mostly what I remember of my childhood is from the photos that I have. Photos are worth more than gold to me. This assignment is reminding me that I have not been taking as many photos as I should or would like to! I would love to share more but I just can't narrow them down to a top 10 even. Go back to Aoj's and see everyone else's favorite pictures.

Fun Monday Dream Job

This Monday's hostess is the delicious Irish Coffeehouse. She has asked what career we wanted as a child and what career we would have if we could do anything we wanted and start the job tomorrow.

This is super easy for me, so easy I am so ashamed I didn't get this post typed out and ready to go days before today!

As far back as I can remember I wanted to be an Astronaut. The first time I rode a roller coaster that dream flew out the window, along with my lunch! The other job I dreamed of having when I grew up was to be a Marine Biologist. I longed to play with the dolphins and whales and get paid to do it. The reason I never pursued that job was because I did not go to college!
If I could be a Marine Biologist tomorrow I would. One other job I would like to do is a horticulturist. I love plants and I love playing in the dirt!

If you would like to read what other bloggers wanted to be when they grew up check out Irish Coffeehouse for the list.

Fun Monday Quirky Me

Lisa's Chaos is today's lovely hostess for Fun Monday. I have bowed out for a few weeks but I just had to join in on this one! She has set forth this challenge:

"A quirk is defined as a peculiarity of action, behavior, or personality; mannerism. We are all unique individuals, having quirks that help make us who we are. I would like to know what your quirks are."

Uh, wait a minute. What was I thinking? Hey there's one. I don't think things through too well before I do them. Act first, ask questions later.

I do not like my food to touch each other. It's just not right. I mean they just need to get a room already! They will get that room once inside my belly!

I repeat myself when talking. I will rephrase my point at least twice. When I talk to people I will say what it is I want to say at least a couple different ways. ;) Except for right now, I do not do it on purpose. I try to be conscious of it but most times I can't help it.

I do not like odd numbers. When piercing my ears I had to have the same amount on each ear. There is 4 in each ear...well except for that one in my rt ear up in the cartilage but it would just look wrong to have one in the same place on my left ear, but it still bugs me. Other than THAT I hate odd numbers of things. Oh crap! That means I hate the # of kids I have. No. Wait. That is true. Back when I had only one child I knew that if I ever had 3 kids I would just HAVE to have another to make it even. That makes me laugh. 3 kids is too much for me, I deal the best I can, but there is no way I would have a 4th just for the sake of making it even.

I have many more quirks. I am positive that what I have just shared is more than enough.
Make sure that you head over to Lisa's to see what a lot of other bloggers quirks are.

Fun What?

I am 0 for 2. This is ridiculous. I really thought I could easily get a picture of one of my collections up this past Monday. I took the photos and then never got it up. It was such a great topic for me. I have many collections. I have the shot glasses that I started collecting from each state I have been to as an adult. I have hat pins from all the states I have been to when I was a child.
I have a collection of photos, magazines, stationary, books, VW bugs and buses, none that I can drive :(
I also collect Teddy bears
The pillow my Grandma(my Mom's Mom) made for me when I was 13 or 14. This collection of Teddy bears isn't even my entire collection. So at least now you have seen one of my collections. Sorry Mariposa.

I am still going to be MIB, hopefully not as much. My Mom left this AM. As of today I have only 7 days to get this house ready for the dreaded yearly in-law visit. I have a lot to do. I am sure it is worse in my mind than it actually is, that there is more to be done than there actually is. But nothing will get done if I get sucked into the black hole that is my computer. In 2 weeks I should get back to my regular programming!! I really should be able to get out a few posts over the next week, I hope. Don't hold me to it though!

Fun Monday My Heroes

Kitten is this weeks lovely hostess and she has chosen a wonderful topic. She wants to know who the heroes in our life are.

This was too easy.

My Grandfather.

Not only because he served in WWII and the Korean War, he was also more of a Dad to me than my father was/is. Maybe everything he did was just what Grandpas do. He will always be my hero.

My Grandma.

She was amazing. She cooked, baked, crocheted, sewed clothes, she loved to garden....
She tried to teach me all of those things and the only one that really stuck was the love of gardening. Just the love, none of her skills. The one thing that sticks out most for me that she did get drilled into my brain at a very young age was feminism. She never called it that, and I think she just laid the groundwork for me. She let me know that I didn't have to put up with or take shit from any man. She had many talks with me on this subject. They ranged from sex, to abuse both verbal and physical, to my finances. In retrospect I think she was just trying to keep me from making the same mistakes she made. I still had to learn the hard way a couple of times but her words, our talks would always be in the back of my mind. She gave me strength, she helped shape the woman I have become.

My Mom, almost all single Mom's are Heroes in my eyes. There are many, many more reasons why my Mom is a hero for me. Her being a single Mom to a most rebellious daughter is just one of the MANY reasons she is my Hero.

My Hubby.
He puts up with me, that's reason enough right there!! He is my own personal warrior. He is the most courageous man in my life.

Head back to Kitten's to see more Heroes!

Fun Monday Favorite walk

Today's Fun Monday is being hosted by The Lurchers. The task set forth this week was simple: take everyone on your favorite walk. I thought I didn't have anything. As is obvious from this post, I haven't been walking. I really do enjoy going for walks but in nature filled areas not blacktop suburbia, even though my "number" begs to differ.

So here I sat feeling sad I was going to miss out on Fun Monday when it hit me!! I do have a walk. A most special walk. I'll let the post speak for itself.

I have taken many walks down that path after becoming a Mom. I have walked there in all 4 seasons. I would have taken current pictures but it is located in Kansas, which sadly I am not. So there you have it. That is one of my favorite walks. Go back to The Lurchers and take a look at more lovely walks.

Fun Monday: In my Life...

The Southern Doll is this weeks lovely hostess. She wants to hear what we have done in our lives that was worth doing, which moments have made our lives sweet.

I really don't know why I have had a hard time with this. It should be easy. Am I not the optimist I think I am? I feel as though I can't come up with anything. I am starting to wonder what it really means by me having trouble with this. Let's just move on shall we?

The first thing that did come to mind was the feeling I had when I first held each of my babies and looked into their eyes. I don't think there is a word to describe how that felt. I felt MORE than joy, contentment, elation, being complete, relief, connected, bliss...I even felt more than love. I also felt like time stood still and that my baby and me were the only 2 souls around. Even all of that does not come close to describing how I felt.

There are so many things that have made my life sweet. Maybe my problem is not that I couldn't come up with any but that I couldn't possibly narrow it down, or even begin to list them all. I also really believe that everything happens for a reason, and I have no regrets about anything I have done in my life. I feel that everything I have done in my life has been worth doing, I loved them all. My 3 boys by far will be the ones that stick out the most.

Head back over to Southern Dolls place and check out what moments everyone else shared.

Fun Monday Crush**Edited**

Jo Beaufoix is our hostess for this lovely Fun Monday. She has asked that we share our first crush. That's easy, his name was Tobin and we first met in Kindergarten. I had a crush on him until about 7th or 8th grade. What's that you say? Who was my first CELEBRITY crush? OH SNAP!

I do not remember my FIRST celebrity crush. I do remember my so called best friends gave me a hard time about the celebs I thought were hot. Sometimes I did not go with the "crowd" when it came to picking who I thought was the hot guy in any given band. I should have had Fianna do this as a guest post, I am sure she remembers better than me the guys I thought were to die for.

I remember having posters from Tiger Beat up on my bedroom walls but I can't remember who all I deemed worthy to grace them.
I loved River Phoenix RIP. I am almost positive he was on my walls. He was for sure my crush.

Sean Astin was so cute in The Goonies, here is a perfect example where my friends would give me a hard time because they would say "Josh Brolin was way hotter, gah!"
See what I had to put up with? I doubt I had Sean up on my walls though. The crushes I had on celebs as a young girl were just blips on the screen of life. I am not even embarrassed about them either. Now photos of me back then, that's a different story! Head back over to Jo's to see what crushes the rest of the participants had back in the day.
*************************************************************************************
O.H. my Gwad! I can't believe I forgot about Ricky Schroder! He had to have been my first crush. I remember as a little girl swooning over him! um, I think I might be getting a lil pink in the cheeks now...

Fun Monday Inspiring Quotes

Today's Fun Monday hostess is none other than Robin @ Pensieve. She has asked us to share our favorite and/or inspiring quotes.

As far back as the age of 8 I have collected quotes. Whenever I saw a quote that spoke to me I would write it down. I have a whole folder full of pieces of paper with quotes written on them. I would write quotes on my notebooks at school. I LOVE quotes. The only hard part about this assignment was choosing a FEW of my favorites!!

This first one I heard on one of my NPR most emailed stories podcasts, while my hubby was deployed during '05/'06. I had it posted on my fridge and read it daily. I would read it many, many times throughout the course of a day.

" We are not given the burdens we deserve, we are given the burdens we can bear."

I don't know who originally said the quote, but it became my mantra.

"Beauty is everywhere - only some can see it. ~ Confucius

Here are three that I didn't write down who said it or where I found them when I stumbled upon them....

" A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you today just the way you are."

"Value yourself. The only people that appreciate a doormat are people with dirty shoes."

" Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

"Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood. Is it so bad to be misunderstood then? ... To be great is to be misunderstood ." ~ Emerson

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far you can go." ~T.S. Elliot

"It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. ~ Kahlil Gibran

" Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive."

~ Anäis Nin

"Just living is not enough...one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower." ~Hans Christian Andersen

"If Presidents don't do it to their wives, they do it to their country." ~ Mel Brooks

Alrighty then, so that was just a tiny sampling of my favorites. I had to force myself to stop. Go back to Robin's for the entire list of folks participating this week. I am totally looking forward to reading what EVERY ONE'S favorite quotes are!

Fun Monday Words

Happy St. Paddy's Day! Today's FM is being hosted by the absolutely fucking brilliant Nikki. She has asked us to share our made up words or a green beer story.

I have never drank green beer, I don't think I have ever been drunk on St. Paddy's day either. If I have I don't remember it and there have been many times I have been so drunk I don't remember it...so maybe I have!

Made up words then...humm... well there was just a week or so ago I gave you concernieosity, that is when one is concerned and a tad curious at the same time.
Then there is my favorite that my middle son made up to describe my belly fat....squooshy
not squishy, smooshy,or squashy it is squooshy.

I'm sure there are more but I feel brain dead today. Go check out the other participants to see what homemade words they've got cookin', or greentastic beer stories they might have to share!

Fun Monday The Quotables

The IT Guy is today's Fun Monday host. He has asked us to share 5 movie quotes from 5 different movies, and who we have or would say them to in real life.

1. "Your stunned silence is very reassuring." from the movie Monsters, Inc. said by Roz to Mike.
I say this to my hubby and/or my kids on a daily basis.

2. "HEED!! Move!" (said with Scottish accent) from the movie So I Married an Axe Murderer, said by Stuart Mackenzie to his son. Ever since my oldest sons head blocked my view of the T.V. I started yelling it, with the Scottish accent too. I say it to all the heeds that block the T.V.screen now!

3. "Take care of you." from the movie Pretty Woman, Kit says it to Vivian and Vivian says it back to Kit. Over the years my 3 BFF's (the ones I have had since Kindergarten) and I have said that to each other. I would close letters to them with that line, we end I.M.'s with that line...

4. "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" from the movie Wizard of Oz, said by Dorothy Gale, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man. I say this when I am on my way to a ZOO, and while I am at the ZOO!

5. "Remember my dear, I can smell a lie like a fart in a car." from the movie Pump up the Volume, said by Mark Hunter. I have not said this,it will become an old stand by for me to say to my 3 boys!!!!!

One extra one...I have said this quote many times before....it just doesn't doesn't come out much in my life anymore...I really, really wanted to say it..."Fuck me gently with a chainsaw." Anyone that knows what movie it was said in WITHOUT using the internet to figure it out gets nothing but the satisfaction of knowing that you totally ROCK. Let me know though, I will want to praise you tomorrow when I share the clip.

Now go back to IT Guy's to check out the list of participants and read more movie quotes!!

Fun Monday Our Movie

The lovely, talented Janet is our host for this Fun Monday. She wants to know who would play us in a movie of our life and give her a little synopsis of the movie.

This was so hard for me. I have no short synopsis for you. Just some eye candy.

I was torn as to who should play me and I still think I haven't found the RIGHT one. Oh well. I am not as hot as either of these women but it is my movie, let me dream... I am not as short as them either...

The first is Janeane Garofalo
and Ashley Judd
My hair looks like hers in this photo except a lil shorter and with blonde highlights.

My hubs does not have long hair or dimples.
Excuse me. I am a lil hot and bothered. Please go check out the list of participants that did what Janet asked!

Fun Monday What's in a name?

This week's hostess is Mariposa. Is it just me or does anyone else start singing"Mariposa and the butterfly fairies"? I'd like to think that the commercials are on overkill because the DVD is due out this Tuesday as opposed to me having Nick Jr. on entirely too much. On to her assignment which is twofold:
(1) Please share to us how the NAME of your BLOG was made? I can't wait to hear interesting funny stories!

(2) Please share to us (in words or photo, though a combination of both will be a bonus!) your favorite/ most common dish!

When I started blogging back in June I named my blog "Momma K & 3 Lil Men". About 13 or 14 posts into blogging I decided to change it. I didn't want potential readers to think my blog was all about my kids and being a Mom , in other words I was afraid of people just skipping over it thinking it was just another mommy blog before reading another word. I made the change before I had any readers. Well I had one reader, my BFF Fianna...okay I had 2 if you count my hubby. How did I come up with Lady K?
One word: Thunderbirds.Something made me think of Thunderbirds, maybe it was the mini Thunderbird 1 I kept stepping on,which then made me think of Lady Penelope. So I thought instead of Momma K, why not Lady K? I thought it was sassy. It is meant to be funny. I am far from a lady, I belch, I fart, I swear like a Marine, I get dirty, I don't sugar coat anything, I don't shove sunshine up anyones ass...hence the tag line for my blog.I started to tire of my blog name back in September. I thought up some new blog names and put up a poll in my sidebar during the month of November asking readers to help me choose a new blog name. It is still there, closed but there. I was really feelin' the name that received the most votes until Karisma suggested " A bugs Life". I really, really like that name but all I could think of was the Disney/Pixar movie by the same name and I am afraid of what Disney/Pixar would do to me if I used the name of their movie as my blog name, copyright laws and all. Then Beckie suggested "A Kaytabug's Life", and WT offered up "Bugger This". I am terrible at making decisions, or being creative so I just never made one. Maybe some day I will choose a new blog name but for now it remains the same. Feel free to put your 2 cents in if you like. I am open for suggestions.

On to a favorite dish.
Well it is one of my favorites! You can always count on me to be a smart ass!
I do have favorite foods like Spaghetti, dill pickles, brownies, strawberry rhubarb pie, Art's & Mary's Salt 'N Crack'd Pepper potato chips, Pot Roast, Braeburn apples, Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup to name a few.
Go back to Mariposa's and check out the rest of the players this week.

Fun Monday Signs

Today's Fun Monday is being hosted by the lovely Sayre Smiles. Her challenge was this: "Take your camera with you as you go about your business and take a picture of the things that make you laugh along the way."

Well, I do not have a daily commute. I do take my younger 2 boys to preschool 4 days a week but there are no signs along the way that make me laugh. Signs do make me laugh. Even a "Stop Ahead" sign makes me giggle. Can anyone guess why?

Since I have nothing out and about that makes me laugh I give you signs from inside my home that I see daily as I go about my business.

This sign hangs in my laundry room.
This sign hangs in the entry way by the front door. It says "Bloom Where You're Planted." The word planted is entangled in vines and hard to make out.
This sign hangs over the doorway that leads to the laundry room. I see it while in my dining/living room. I also see it when I am leaving the house. I have to go through the laundry room to get to the garage. The sign says "Raised on Kansas Sunshine".
This sign hangs beside the door that leads to the garage. I see it every time I leave, and when I am doing laundry.
This sign hangs between our garage doors, on the outside. I see this every time I come and go.Now, head on back to Sayre's place and check out what other's see daily that makes them chuckle!

Fun Monday My Song

This Fun Monday is being hosted by The Crown Princess. She said, "I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you."

I told her when I signed up that I wouldn't be able to pick only one song, but that I promised not to post a soundtrack! When I first read this assignment I thought it would be easy as long as I could add more than one song. The more I thought about it the harder it became. I have a ton of favorite songs, I listen to a wide variety of music. I think that each friend has a different song that makes them think of me. For instance one of my best friends has Girls Just Want to Have Fun set as my ringtone on her phone. Whenever I call her that is what she hears. I have another best friend that once told me that Jimi Hendrix's Highway Child made her think of me due to my love of Road Trips.

I think of my 3 Best Friends that I have had since Kindergarten, which includes Fianna, whenever I hear Lean on Me the version by Club Nouveau.

There are just so many, many songs that I relate to, that make me smile. In the end I was able to pick just one song for me.

Now I think I am going to ask all of my friends what song/s make them think of me. This was really interesting! Thanks Crown Princess! Now go to back to her place and check out what everyone else thinks is their song.

Fun Monday Bucket List

Today's lovely hostess is Tiggerlane and she has asked us to share our Bucket List.

I have never really thought about what I would like to do before I die. I have sat here in front of my computer screen trying to think of what I want to see and do someday. Here is what I came up with...

  1. Attend a K-State Football home game.
  2. Swim with the Dolphins.
  3. Go Whale watching.
  4. Read more books...I'd like to at least finish those 6 books.
  5. Visit the 8 States I haven't been to.
  6. I want to visit the Mesa Verde, to see the cliff dwellings and top houses.
  7. I would love to travel to a LOT of countries. I will name a few... Africa, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, England, New Zealand, Greece, Russia, Egypt...

At least it's a start. Go back to Tiggerlane's to check out what other folks want to do before they croak.

Fun Monday Bedside Table

Today's Fun Monday is being hosted by The Lurchers, who asked to see what our bedside table looked like. I thought it was a great topic as it would give me the nudge I need to tidy it up. Life takes over as we are all accustomed to and I did not get a chance to tidy up like I had wanted to.
You are blessed with seeing my messy, chaotic bedside table or in my case bedside dresser. There are LOADS of treasures here, not that anyone but me can pick them out. The cardboard behind by dresser is the mirror that attaches to the back of it and I have not been able to find the old antique replacement mirror holder thingys. I'm always on the lookout. There is also my Grandmothers jewelery box on my dresser/bedside table. It is rather large and has tiny drawers. It still holds her jewelry, nothing I will wear, nothing worth any $$, yet it is still priceless to me. I have books, journals, toys, and some of my jewelery scattered all about...just to name a few. No getting to see in my dresser drawers, those hold my unmentionables.

So have fun, play I spy and see what you can find. Just click it to big it, if you dare!
Go back to The Lurchers to see everyone else's bedside tables.
