Fun Monday Funnies

This is the last Fun Monday for 2007 and it is being hosted by Peter over at Holties House. He has asked to see our favorite cartoon or a funny joke. He added later to hit us with your best selection, that's good for me!

I had to dig deep into my inbox and I picked some of my most favorite images.

Something you don't see everyday! Good way to keep score don't you think?!

Now for my favorite Redneck photos of 2007!

A Rednecks dog house.

Redneck Pet Carrier
Redneck Doorbell
Redneck Palm Pilot
Redneck GrillThat is a 2 for one actually. Where ever you are Melissa, this one's for you! Who knew those hobo carts could cook for themselves?!! Scary!

Happy Last FM of 2007 everyone! As far as I know Peter hasn't had any volunteers to be the host for the First FM of 2008. If you want to be the one go leave him a comment or send him an email. Lisa and all her Chaos is hosting Next weeks Fun Monday. Don't forget to go check out list of participants and their favorite funnies. The list is in the post below Peters funnies. Have a Happy New Year Everyone!!!

A Simple Book

After almost all of my commenter's from my previous post were echoing my feelings about the day after Christmas I thought I'd share a book that I received for Christmas. I usually don't read "new" books until I've gotten through my current reading list. I felt this was an exception, especially when I wanted to recapture the joy of Christmas. The book is "Simplify Your Christmas: 100 Ways to Reduce the Stress and Recapture the Joy of the Holidays" by Elaine St. James.

If you click the link you can actually read up to page 46, if you like what you read then you can go check it out at your library. I am enjoying it and will be revamping my Christmas next year. I think what I am realizing most is that there really are a ton of preconceived notions and expectations that are preconditioned or burned into our psyche. I think that is what I am struggling with most. So far reading this book has helped me to feel that it is ok to let those things go. The more I read the more I wanted to go out and buy copies for everyone! If you have been feeling like I have, I hope that this book will help you in some way.

Rear View

Tis' the day after Christmas and I am let down and spent. I am left wondering where all the joy went. Next year I plan to recapture the joy of Christmas. Not only for my boys but for me as well.

Today I have but one bumper sticker. I am practicing my X-mas down size early!
I found this one MONTHS ago and have been waiting for today to share it. I love it. I think it is my favorite. To think I used to love setting up the creche set. I would always position those men differently, one year it was shortest to tallest, the next it was tallest to shortest, the following year it was short guy in the middle the average guy first and tall guy last.

I hope I am the only one feeling burnt out and let down from the hoopla that was Christmas.

A hodgepodge

I apologize to all my bumper sticker fans. I just wasn't feeling it yesterday. I have also come down with a cold again. We had our tree completed Saturday night/Sunday AM. Want to take a guess at why I have to decorate it for the 3rd time? Yes, I said 3rd time. One word. Luke. Our 100lb yellow lab. We now have a rope tied to the middle of the trunk and the rope is shut in the window with a not at the end in case the rope tried to slip through the window. I have pushed it, it is not going anywhere now. The kids have been putting ornaments back on it. I need to put mine back on, put the angel on top and it will be complete, again.

The post office says today is the last day to send pkgs priority to ensure delivery by Christmas. The sign also said today is the last day to send cards so that they arrive by Christmas. Yea right! If I am going to send anything I need to get to it today. Yea right! Like that's going to happen! I still need to make my Christmas cookies. I wanted to make Peanut Brittle this year. I think I will skip the Fudge this year. Maybe I will send out New Years pkgs instead of Christmas. That's being unique right?! Spread out the cheer! Yea that's a great way for this procrastinator to rationalize.

Oh and I still need to sit down with the boys and make their Reindeer. I missed last year due to our world coming to a halt after our friend died. So from the 16th of December on into January, maybe February is all a big blur. My hubby and I can not remember what we did for New Years Eve. Not that we were 3 sheets to the wind, we just don't remember much after his death.
Well now that I ended on such a sad note let's see if I can leave you a happy visual.
These are my younger 2 boys sweatshirts that they made at Preschool for their Preschool Christmas Program. The girls in their classes had the bow and bell in the antlers. This is what I make with my kids using construction paper. Brown for the face, black for the antlers. I use the googly eyes and a black pom poms for the nose, one gets to be Rudolph with a red pom pom.
Time for me to get busy!

It's Fra-Gee-Lay!

Oh yea baby! It's here, it's here, it's finally here! I received what I have been coveting for weeks! Every time I see it I drool, just a little. It comes from one of my all time favorite Christmas movies!
Sweet Sauntering Soul sent me this Major Award. She said this about me"because she's just awesome and I love her candor." Who knew I had candor?! Candor is just a lovely way to describe the way I "talk" on my blog. I am frank, open ,and sincere.
Now I finally get to display my Major Award. All of my readers can bask in the "soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window" of my blog!
I am not one to pass on awards but since this is so very special to me I must pass it on to others in need of some electric sex gleaming in their blog window.

Willowtree - I bet someone beat me to giving this Major Award to him but I don't give a damn! He is getting one from me even if I have to make a mold of my leg to make into a lamp!

Fianna - Because of all the obvious reasons and I know she loves this movie!

Robinella - This will be a lovely addition to her decor!

See this is why I do not like passing along awards because I feel like I have hurt someones feelings by not giving it to them. I'm sorry.

Fun Monday Our Street

Today's Fun Monday Hostess is the lovely Kitten. She has asked for us to tell the story of our home and road and that pictures would be nice to go with the story.

I said in my October View FM that "The road to nowhere leads to me." It still does. I had a lot going on this weekend so I for got to take pictures of my wintry road and house. I have a couple shots you haven't seen so bare with me.

We moved into our current home one year and 5 months ago. It was built in 1999. We are the 3rd owners. Our home is located in what I call a subdivision. Thankfully not one of those subdivisions where you drive through and every home looks the same. The homes around us look similar but not the same. All of the roads in our subdivision start with the letter S. You could defiantly get lost and confused out here. But there is only one entry and exit road to the subdivision, you would find it again eventually!

Here is the front of our house...This is looking down our front yard, you can see our street...

Just a friendly reminder...I asked the question during my sign up week if we should have FM on the upcoming holiday Mondays. I thought it was even steven...half for skipping both the other half for skipping X-mas Eve but having a FM on New Year's Eve. So we are skipping FM for the 24th. There WILL be a FM for the 31st for anyone interested and able to play. Peter has graciously volunteered to host. We understand that some might not be able to play and that is Ok! I think Peter said he was going to make it an easy one!
Now head back over to Kitten's to read and see more FM player's homes and roads.

Happy Birthday Middle Man!

5 years ago Christmas came 11 days early for me. I never set out to have a December Baby. My hubby and I had been trying for 6 months to get pregnant with our second child. Well actually 4 months because January and February he was away. He got to come home for one week and then he had to leave again for another 2 months. We had actually decided while he was gone that maybe we shouldn't have any more kids. One was enough. Being alone with a 3 year old was enough to make me never want another child! We are all adults here. I am sure you know what you would do with your spouse after 2 months of being apart and only having 7 days to spend with them before they were to be gone for another 2 months. Was I extremely surprised when Aunt Flo did not come knocking on my door in April. All this to say that we did not set out to have a December baby.

My first baby came 2 weeks early. I wanted this guy to come out early too. He was stubborn. I say he was born on his due date but the Dr's say he was 2 days late. My OB said his due date would be the 13th but he was superstitious and did not want to give me a Friday the 13th Due date, so he made it the 12th instead. A close friend of mine had her baby on the 10th. He had to go in NICU so he did not come home until the 13th. I went over to see her and the new baby that evening. I held him. The lil guy in my tummy started kicking him. I started having contractions at midnight and he was born at 5:33 AM. We didn't even go to the hospital til 2 AM. I wanted to make sure it was for real. This made me not have enough time to get an epidural. I progressed to quickly. This lil guy wasn't so little he was 2 ounces shy of 10 lbs and almost 24 inches long.

Though he seemed jealous in my belly he is the most un-jealous child I have ever met. He is so caring, and loving, kind and generous. He is best friends with the baby that I held a few hours before he was born. I just can not believe he is already 5 years old. He still looks the same as he did in these photos.

Here he is 1 month old...
2 months old...
His First Birthday...He is my Sunshine.
He still smiles like he did in these photos.

From about 6 months on he began a love for all things ugly. He would laugh his lil butt off whenever Gollum came on the TV screen. His favorite part was when Gollum was arguing with his evil side, and the Fish song. We gave him a Gollum toy for Christmas..see his joy....According to him he has already broken up with his 1st girlfriend and has a new one. He is growing up way to fast. Happy Birthday Baby Santa.

Today's To do**Updated**

Just because I love you all so much and I know you shed a tiny tear when you don't hear from me I give you my to do list for today.

1) Take a damn shower. (If I don't put it on the list I just might get to busy and skip it)

2) Make cupcakes for middle son's preschool class.

3) Clean the boys bathroom. 3 boys= 1 G.R.O.S.S. bathroom.

4) Put the preschool teachers gifts in the gift bags.

5) Charge the camera and video camera, there is a preschool X-mas program tonight.

6) Pack tissues in purse.

7) I have to pay the water and sewer bills today. This is more than a stamp and mailbox, due to each place being 2 and 5 minutes from my house I take the checks to them. I need to rethink why I do this.

8) I have got to do some laundry, this is extremely vital as I only have 2 pair of pants that do not cut off the circulation to my tummy!

9) I realized in the middle of the night that I need 12 more lil' items for my other sons preschool class gift exchange. Back to the Dollar Tree today!

All of these things can be accomplished if I just apply myself and step away from the computer!

***Update****
I know all of you are just dying to know if I accomplished everything on my list for today.

I posted at 10:31 AM. I turned the CPU off. I washed my clothes so I could have something to wear. While the clothes were getting clean I whipped up some chocolate cupcakes. Fed my lil guys lunch. Somewhere in there I realized I needed to square away my finances(checkbook) so I had to turn on the CPU so I could do my online banking. This took out a big chunk of my time. I got in the shower at 12:06. That is when I am usually getting shoes on and coats and backpacks, all the final checks before leaving. My boys were late to preschool due to that damn shower. I almost said fuck it! I'll take one after I drop them off, but I will be damned if I am getting into fresh out of the dryer clothes with a not fresh out of the shower body! Boys arrived at preschool at 12:40...it might have been 12:45. They should be there at 12:30. I then went and paid my bills. Came home, frosted the cupcakes, sprinkled sprinkles then headed back to school so his class could have them for snack. It was the closest he gets to a Birthday party at school.
What did I miss? #'s 3, 6, and 9. Thankfully I didn't need the tissue, my floodgates stayed closed. The party isn't until Monday so I can go to the D.T. anytime over the next 3 days. I can also clean that bathroom anytime over the next 3 days!

Fun Monday Ornaments:Updated

The list of participants is in the post below this one, or click the link over there to the right.
Woo Hoo! It is my first time hosting. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be! Thanks again to everyone that signed up! Of course I have way more than ONE favorite ornament. I had a really hard time narrowing it down to a few. Now I wish I would have shown more of my favorites. Only one picture from me today....explanation follows....The Raggedy Ann and Andy in the center are from my childhood. Their arms move. I know they aren't the "name brand" dolls but I love them. A few years back I did buy Hallmarks "name brand" Raggedy Ann and Andy ornaments. They are my favorites too.
I was a bicentennial baby. Those were my mittens. Below and to the right of the mittens are 2 of my many red cookie cutters. These are the kind of cookie cutters my Grandma made her cut out sugar cookies with. Speaking of my Grandma...I mentioned that stocking in the Christmas Traditions FM. She made one of those for each of the grandkids, with their name and birth year on it. She would put candy canes and the first clue that would lead us to find our gift. Below the stocking is a snowflake I have several of these, I believe they are crocheted, I just love them.
Finally is my peace dove, representing my hope for peace.

**Update** After seeing Nikki's fun ornaments on her wish list I just had to pull out a few of my favorite fun ornaments. You will see the Ann and Andy I mentioned. No more talkie just lookie!

Now go on check out the rest of the participants. The list is in the post below! Have a great Fun Monday!

Cards-n-Junk

I used to be organized, on the ball when it came to sending out Christmas cards to all of my friends and family. I would even take a photo of the boys under the tree, print them out and tuck them in the card. That didn't happen last year and if I don't get my butt in gear this weekend it isn't going to happen this year either! We haven't even gone to get our tree yet. I need to locate previous years un-used cards. For over 6 years I would keep a list of names and what cards I sent to each person so as to avoid sending them the same card. I have no idea where the list is. Plus I just don't care anymore. I really need to learn how to make my own.

I bought a birthday card back in October for a birthday that is in December. Have you ever looked at cards and come across THE PERFECT card for someone you know? That happened to me back in October. Do you think I can find that card now? Hell fuck no! I can't find that card and I have torn up my house looking for it. Now I have to send a non-perfect card. This upsets me.

As I type I keep getting email dings from a friend...you know the one that only checks their inbox once every 2 weeks or once a month and when they check they feel the need to fwd on 20 plus emails to everyone in their address book. *ding....*ding....*ding...*ding....*ding...*ding
Shut the fuck up already. I know I know I just need to tell her to stop sending me fwds. Thing is I am just to damn nice to tell her. I just delete them, no harm no foul...right?

A lil How to *Update*

I am still mad at blogger. Not only are they making it a pain in the ass for non-blogger blogs to leave comments, NOW they have somehow screwed up comment email notification! Just 2 days ago I said I just cant switch, if I had to I'd quit. If they don't fix this soon I may jump ship. These problems couldn't have come at a worse time as far as I'm concerned!

I don't want to post anything because whats the point? Half of my readers aren't commenting due to the aggravation of not being able to easily leave their url, and the other half I'm not getting over half of their comments in my inbox! I reported this "bug" to blogger. If you are on blogger I suggest you report it too. Go here you will have to sign in with your Google account. (There was an option to skip authentication. The steps that follow are from signing in.) Then it should show... "I'd like to..." you want to check "report a bug or problem" then a new list pops up, you want to check "I found a bug with blogger" then a bunch of links will pop up that are really irrelevant just click on "Known issues with blogger" at the very end of all the crap that poops up is "To report a bug click here" CLICK THERE! FINALLY you will be where you can REALLY report a problem. If you signed in you should see your email address, under that a list of "what are you having a problem with." check "Comments". There is a drop down that will show your blog name or no blog in particular. I choose my blog name. For brief descriptive summary I put " Email Notification" Then you FINALLY get to tell them what for! When I did this last night I had only heard from one other Blogger blog that was having the email issue, so I put in there that I know of one other blog with the same issue, but I bet there are more( I see today there is more). I told them that I had received 15 comments on my blog of those only 5 did I receive an email notification for. No need to go through and count yours, but PLEASE go through this and let them know you are not receiving all of your comment notifications. The more ppl that complain about it the faster it will get fixed. You can even put in you wouldn't be surprised email notification is messed up due to them changing the comment features.

Off my soap box now. On to a lil blog bling. Debs gave me an award a long time ago. I meant to use it during Nablome. I really appreciate it and the really cool thing about it is the guy who made it up is a SAHD!!! How cool is that?! Click on the link and you will go to the award post! Thanks again Debs!!
Miss Lisa must have really enjoyed my poopie bumper sticker, so much so that she gave me her poopsies award! Thank you Lisa! :)

**** Ha ha ha! I checked on "known issues" on blogger and look there is the email notification issue...then they said they fixed it. Now I just need to complain more about the url. I tried the blogger in draft with the open ID it didn't solve the issue, so says WT. So I took it off. Hey, if any NON-blogger blog wants to type up a lil paragraph telling blogger why this new turn in comments sucks and any suggestions let me know. I did leave a comment to blogger about the url comment issue, but since I am not a non-blogger blog I am not fully grasping the magnitude of how annoying this is to you.*****

I am miffed

Alright, it is official. I am PISSED OFF at fucking BLOGGER. It could be yahoo's fault but I want to blame blogger since they are dicking around with the comment features. I have received a total of 11 comments today. Have I received email notifications for ALL of those comments? Hell Fuck No! I only received 3! One from Lisa on my Rear View, which made me think all day what I did to tick everyone off. I only got 2 in my inbox for my FM, which made me wonder if no one really wants to play my game. Then I saw all the comments I had received but just didn't know I had received them. Then I wonder if anyone has left me a comment and it didn't even register in the comment section. I did switch to blogger in draft so there would be the drop down option thingy. Is that even helpful to all the non-bloggers? If it isn't then I will go back to not in draft blogger.
So please email me hemp_raven_420 at yahoo dot com if you do not see your name on the FM list especially if you do not see your comment. Has any other person on blogger had this issue today??

** Fun Monday sign up is over there in my sidebar.**

I think it is time I start giving credit where credit is due before my ass gets sued! Plus I think Beckie is starting to think I'm holding out on her. All of the bumper stickers I feature on my blog with the exception of the first 2 in this post and all of them in this post I find here. I know some of you are just dying to get your hands on one or more of the stickers I have shown. Now you can have them for your very own!

This first one is for a special someone...you know who you are ;)I just love me some Jimi...
This is for all of us that fear the clowns!

Happy Hump Day!

Fun Monday for Dec. 10th

I am the hostess for Fun Monday December 10th. I have already had a few eager beavers that signed up not having a clue what the topic was going to be. I hope you will join in too!

I remember a couple of people having a poll that let us decide what the topic was going to be. I really liked one of Robin's options. I voted for it, it didn't win. The next host had a poll, included that same option, I voted again and was shut down once again. I think it happened a THIRD time and yet again it was not chosen. Now I have the POWER Bwahahaha!! I am asserting my authority and NOT choosing what I wanted!!!

In the spirit of the season I would like to see your favorite Christmas tree ornament. Not to be confused with the WHOLE tree. I want you to zoom in and show me one or a few(you know I can't choose just one!) of your favorite ornaments. If you don't decorate a tree, show me your menorah or dreidel, Kinara, or Yule Log. I want to see your favorite decoration for this holiday season.

I want everyone to feel like they can play so if you don't have a digital camera there are plenty of photo's online, show me an ornament you want, if you have a camera take it to the store and take a picture of one you want... the possibility's are endless!

Here is the list so far:

I also want YOUR opinion on future Fun Mondays...the 24th and the 31st. Should we skip those two and after the 17th just adjourn until January 7th? What about skipping Christmas Eve and having a FM on New Year's Eve...no one celebrates until the evening anyway right? One could make it a really easy one... Let me know what you think. The 17th already has a hostess.

Fun Monday Best of Kaytabug 2007

Todays hostess is Robinella, my favorite Porch Goddess. She said :" I want you to dig through your blog files and show us your best effort. Why you consider it your best is up to you. C’mon, you know you have a favorite - show it to me one more time."

I had written down a few of my favorites but I lost the damn piece of paper. I have only been blogging for 6 whole months, I am now going into my 7th month. I do not feel I have a best, only some favorites, well I had a lot of favorites but I narrowed it down. I will link a few you can look at if you choose to or just come back and check out the links sometime when there isn't a shit load of Fun Mondays to get through. I will copy and paste one that you don't have to click a link for at the end of my links.

This post is embarrassing and OMG I can't believe I put all that TMI on the internet, AND I am letting even more people know about it's existence which is completely insane on my part but I still think it's great, plus as a bonus it is laced with colorful words. I wrote this way in the beginning when my lone reader was my BFF. Update: If you read that post, this was the follow up to it.

There is the post titled Redneck Transport. 4 of you have read this WT, Pamela, Swampy and my BFF, well that's all that commented on it anyway. I thought it was a great effort on my part.

I am so very proud of my September 11th remembrance post.

Most Fun Mondayers remember My Good Deed. That is one of my best!

One thing I noticed going through my blog is that my Fun Mondays are lengthy on the words, photos, or both. I am not doing any better today but here comes the one I picked to copy and paste. It isn't great, but it is short and sweet and has an awesome photo.

Sunshine on a cloudy day

So, I thought I would share this photo....
Yesterday after having several thunder
storms roll through, Mother Nature decided she wasn't
finished yet. The sun was shining and yet it started to pour! I have seen this occurrence several times in my life in several different states and in a different country yet it still amazes me.

I took that photo with no flash. That is pure sun shining through pouring rain!!! I just wanted to share! Awesome isn't it?

Tomorrow comes the post where I talk about the 3 day visit with the in-laws!

************************************************************************************

Go check out more Best Of the Best at Robinellas place. Then come back here tomorrow to find out what your assignment will be for December 10th. Boo Ha Ha!

************************************************************************************

Edit: The post about the 3 day visit with the in-laws was back in June.I linked it in case anyone wants to read it.
