I Break for...

Yesterday while driving around running errands I stopped in the middle of the road flicked my emergency lights on, jumped out of my car and ran in front of my car, grabbed a box turtle and ran him across the road in the direction he was going and placed him out of harms way.

I'm just glad that the traffic wasn't busy during that time of day, plus it was a 2 lane portion of road so other cars could get around my dumb ass. At least I didn't stop traffic! But I am so happy that I saved the turtle. I see too many that didn't make it across the road, but instead made it to the other side...if you know what I mean.

I am hoping that this helps jump start my inner blogger. I am missing it.

Moonpie

The boys and I went home,to Ks, in July. I've really just barely gotten started posting all the posts I have from that trip! Crazy right?! So what am I doing over here being quiet for days on end? I don't know! I'll try to do better okay? So anyway, while we were home at my Mom's a neighborhood cat showed up at her house when we did. I thought the cat sensed the kids and was in need of lovin' and that is why it showed up. It wasn't until just a couple of weeks ago that I found out the real reason behind this cat hanging out at my Mom's house. More on that in a minute.

My boys immediately named the cat Moonpie. My Mom HATES cats. She is really, really afraid of cats. Back in the day when she was young and a waitress, she had to take the trash out to the dumpster and when she lifted the lid a dozen cats jumped out at her. She HATES them. We never fed Moonpie but he kept coming around. Mom says that he still kept coming around even after we left. She couldn't figure out why it didn't just go home since there was nothing left there for him.
I took those photos while we were there. I knew I was going to blog about how the kids named him Moonpie. I thought it was funny. I'm so glad I didn't blog about this until now. A couple of weeks ago my Mom called to tell me that she happened to talk to the girls that the cat belongs to and found out the cats real name. SNOOPY!!! This cracks me up! My Mom is a HUGE Peanuts fan and her favorite character is SNOOPY!!! I told my Mom he's still hanging around because he knows how much you love Snoopy!! He's like her Kitty soul mate! She didn't like that.

I'll Never Forget

I posted the following last year on September 11th, 2007.

It was a Tuesday.

It was a beautiful morning, sun shining, not a cloud in the sky, dew on the grass, a nice comfortable temperature….a great day for a walk. I put the dog on his leash and took my almost 4 yr olds hand. We loved our walks. While we walked I kept thinking about how beautiful the morning was. I started hearing sirens and thought nothing…these were common sounds on our walks. The sirens kept coming. Once we reach the park I don’t hear a break in the sirens. They are continuous…over and over and over…they come and come and come they keep coming. They don’t stop. It is eerie. A lady came out of her apartment, comes to me and says”2 planes just hit the World Trade Center.” I am in disbelief. I don’t believe her. It sounds too wrong… too unreal…I thought “No way that would never happen what is this crazy lady talking about?!” She points to the sky. There is big grey cloud…there were NO clouds in the sky that day…now that cloud was the only one and it would grow.

I forced my almost 4 yr old son to come home with me. He protested, I felt bad, but I needed to know, I needed some sort of proof…the lone cloud was not enough.

We get home, turn on the TV and there it was 2 towers, 2 plums of smoke rising from the towers. I am in shock and disbelief. I take my son up to the roof of our 6 floor high rise building. We are 7 miles from the towers…I can see them from up there…I need to see them with my own eyes…I don’t believe what I see on the TV screen.

“Oh my god! It IS real. I see it. Oh my god! What is going on? How is this happening? This is happening in front of me…I see this with my eyes.....”Mommy, what’s wrong?” I can’t answer him. I don’t know what to tell him…how to tell him. I don’t even know how to explain it to myself…I can’t wrap my brain around it…how can I explain it to my almost 4yr old? I can’t…I don’t know how.”

I had my camera with me. I took 2 photos…eerily I snapped the 2 right after the first tower fell…I did not realize until I had the roll developed what I captured. Right before I put my eye to the viewfinder to take the picture I could still see both towers…that is what I thought I was taking a picture of.

Today is a Tuesday…6 years ago that was my morning. It is forever etched in my brain and in my heart. My thoughts and love go out to all who lost a loved one that Tuesday 6 years ago today…

7 years later and I still cry, I still mourn the innocent lives lost and the day our world changed forever.

Grrrrrrr

I have got something I really want to blog about but I do not want what I type to be found through a search engine. Please bare with me while all the words I do not want coming up in a search are altered. If any search is lead to this post that has to do anything with what I tried searching for yesterday then it will get deleted.

My Dad irritates the crap out of me. He does not take responsibility for the mess he's made for himself. I have tried to help him with his finances since he retired but he insists that there is nothing coming out of his checking account except a few of his bills. I know this to be a lie on his part but there is nothing I can do. He also refuses to let the pharmacy file his insurance to try and cover some of his diabetes supplies. He says he can barely make it month to month on his retirement. If he would accept my help with his account and let the pharmacy file his insurance, $$ wouldn't be so tight.

Since he won't take responsibility with his $$ he now has thought of a way to make $$, with the help of some really uninformed people that he calls friends. I think they just filled his head with delusions but that's just my opinion! So here is where I get creative. As most of you know my Grandpa was in Waldo Waldo Dos. He has a lot of really cool square things that he took with a camera. A few were taken when they were told not to. They were told if they did there would be legal ramifications. Only c0mbat ph0t0graphers could take the lil square things at the H place where a big mushroom was seen. (Are you all still following me?) Now someone put it in my fathers head that he could earn BIG $$$$$ for those ph0t*s. But he is afraid of the legal ramifications if he s0ld them. I have searched and found nothing either way. All I have come across is sites trying to preserve items from Waldo Waldo Dos, but they take the items as donations. Nothing mentioned about $$$. He has it in his head that some BIG zine or something like that will want them and pay him big $$$.

I am beyond irate I am infuriated! I was so mad yesterday that I was brought to tears more than once. Mad tears people. I can't even think of the last time I was brought to mad tears. My Mom thinks I need to let him know how upset this has made me. That those ph0t0s have no price tag, they are priceless to me. That I want to preserve his Waldo Waldo Dos ph0t*s. All my father sees is an easy way out of the mess he has made himself. Still not taking responsibility for his shit. My feelings will not matter to him, they won't change his mind. He even told me that this is important, not to blow it off, this could earn him some serious $$$, needed $$$. He seems to think that just because my hubby serves means that he can find out the answer to any milit@ry related question. I know that these things are just that, things. We can't take them with us when we die. Knowing that doesn't lessen my feelings though.

I want to go home and ste@l those albums. My Mom and father are coming here to visit in 10 days I am going to ask him to bring the albums so that I can scan them for future generations to see and know our family history. I just hope my Grandpa knows how proud I am of him, for the sacrifices he made, for serving his country, for being more of a father to me than my own. I love him and miss him so much.

Magical Treasures Part 3

So it has been awhile since I did a Magical Treasures post. I wanted to post something today but I was feeling like I have nothing to say. Then it dawned on me that I still have loads of photos to share from my trip home back in July. Just in case you're not up to speed here is the post that shows the magic I used to transform a room at my Mom's house. If you would like to see other really cool things I found in that room go here, here, here, and here. Now that those that wished to get up to speed are, here is half of part 3. Click them to big them.

There are 5 more of these. It is something my Mom must have saved from some newspaper back in the day. Her and I do not want to just toss these in the recycle bin, yet we don't know what to do with them. Sure I thought about framing them but that would take up a lot of wall space. I'll share the other 5 tomorrow. I just think they are so cool!
