Goodbye January

I can not believe that it is already the last day of January. It has gone by quickly.
There are 2 calendars that I have to have every year; the calendar I get from my Kansas magazine subscription, it has beautiful pictures of Kansas every month, and my Mary Engelbreit wall calendar. I couldn't let January leave without sharing the image from this month's calendar. Ever since I opened it up I knew I wanted to share it here. I just LOVE M.E.'s art. I also LOVE quotes. It's like a match made in heaven. This months quote I had never heard or read before. And guess what? I LOVE it!!!
It says: "If at first you don't succeed try,try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a...fool about it." W.C. Fields
I just LOVE it!! I almost hate to turn the page tomorrow. Almost! Turning the page will bring me that much closer to spring!

Back in the Day

I don't know how many times I have gone through my photo albums looking for material for this post. I am starting to feel like I didn't have as many embarrassing photos to share as I first thought. I really am thinking that this will get old QUICK! Will anyone tell me when they tire of seeing my mug every fucking Friday? I guess I'll take the hint when comments go down.

As some of you may know I was a ballerina back in the day. Not a professional one. I thought about starting out with my first recital photos and work my way up. None of them are as funny as this lot. I was 11 or 12 in these. I am now thankful I do not have a girl, I would not want to deal with a female mini-me! Why? You ask.

This is why....
Seriously? at 11 or 12? There was no hope for me was there? It's like a re-occurring theme with me.(I say this because of lasts weeks and the fact that there are more where these came from)

The pretty curling iron ringlets my step-mother spent hours on.Okay. Maybe it wasn't hours but it sure felt like it!
The official photo...
Have you ever wondered if 80's punk rock girls wore jelly shoes? Hummm.

Happy Kansas Day!

Happy Birthday Kansas! 148 years ago today Kansas became a state. I did a post last year too.
I have been saving something special for this year! When I was going through a room at my Mom's house, working my magic, I came across all kinds of treasures. I wanted to show these but hadn't figured out how I wanted to make a post out of them. DUH! Kansas Day!!

I see now why I always had a special place in my heart for this silly bird. It was like brain washing.

Now that I am all grown up I am a Wildcat, thank you very much. I wonder if they have both color sheets now, or if they are still pushing the bird. Here he is in color!
I am still fond of him, it's all the years of brain washing I tell ya!

My favorite flower, the State flower, the Sunflower.

Now here is the true bird of Kansas, the Meadowlark.
The state animal, the bison. We would also color the state flag, but I didn't come across one of those in the "magic room".

The kids have yet another snow day today, they will be listening to Ann Zimmerman and coloring the Kansas symbols, all but the damn Jayhawk.

Happy Birthday!

I got the call last night.

" Due to inclement weather your schools district will be closed Tuesday January 27th. There will be no classes."

My interpretation: "Due to your schools district being fucktards and canceling school for the slightest bit of winter weather you will have a craptastic birthday!" Hey it's my party and I can cry if I want to, alright?! M-kay! To add the proverbial cherry on top of my shit sundae, my kids were up at 6:15 AM. Every other fucking school day I am at their bedside at 7AM waking them from their slumber. They have some kind of freaky 6th sense, they "know" when they don't HAVE to be up so they get up early! Grrrrrrrr.

Here is what it looks like outside,as of 10:40 AM CST. That might be an inch, but there is some ice mixed in there, but still. This is TOTALLY my WTF,Trannyhead. BTW, she will have a WTF day tomorrow on her blog. This week has really just been a WTF kind of week!

They only silver lining is that my hubby didn't have to go to work today. So at least I am not home alone with my kids on a "snow day" that just happens to be my Birthday. The hubby has already baked my cake, the kids have made their homemade Birthday cards. No forgotten Birthday this year.

I'll leave you with a couple Blast from my Past Birthday photos.

From my 4th Birthday, I think I was trying to wear a dress that I thought matched the dress of the doll on my cake.
My 9th Birthday. I was rockin' the walkman!! Sweet!
I think this was my 25th. What was I thinking with that eyeshadow? This also happens to be the last time I had long hair, and it wasn't even that long! I will never have long hair again.
This was my 27th. I wasn't a fan of Phocahontas, my Mom just found the party stuff in a bargin bin. She wanted to make a big deal about my 27th on the 27th. I really remember this one, my 2nd baby was just 6 weeks old.I thought I had more Birthday photos but apparently my friends must be the ones in possesion of those. Damn, the blackmail they must have!!

Back in the Day

Formally know as Better off Forgotten Friday. Even though I loved Burgh Baby's suggestion, after trying it on I felt like it just didn't fit. But it does fit for today's photos, just sayin'.

This weeks will be humiliating and embarrassing. I really can't believe that I am willingly scanning these and posting them for the world to see. I am surprised these are still in my photo album. One was facing backwards though. People love this kind of stuff right?

This first one was taken by one of my so called BFF's. She snapped the photo when I was taking my shirt off. We were at some end of the school year bash at some kind of farm where there was a swimming hole and lots of mud. I thought this was end of 8th grade but the back of the photo says 7th grade. All my friends teased me that I looked like I was feeling myself up.
The next one is from the end of 9th grade. Again one of my so called BFF's took this photo. There was another friend standing kinda next to me but sorta in front. I had to crop her out, she was the subject of the photo or maybe I was and my "friend" didn't want me to know she was taking my photo. I remember trying to defend myself that I was NOT feeling myself up. But my "friends" gave me a hard time saying it looked like I was checking out my own rack! I know I wasn't but baby brain x3 and loads of drugs and alcohol since this photo was snapped has taken away my memory of what I was truly doing. With my tongue hanging out I wonder if I was trying to lick them.
I think even Trannyhead would say that's HAWT!! Bwhahahahaha!

I didn't know it then, but maybe I was just practicing for the profession I dabbled in later in life that required me to strut my stuff and act like I was all that!

To my "friend": I would have included the other 2 but they don't blog. But you know both photos were taken by you!

Should have stayed slilent!

For lack of anything to post I will share a couple of photos I should have put in Monday's post.

A few people from Monday were perplexed by my ceiling fan. So here is picture of my ceiling fan.It is set inside an inset. And I need to get a new light bulb.

Here is a view from one of my red chairs, looking at my front door. I now see this is not the best angle either to show that it is in fact a small hallway or rather entry way before walking into my living room. The coat/backpack rack is to the left in this photo and the shoe cubby/bench is to the right behind the bookshelf which is behind the china cabinet that you can see in this photo.
Wow. So exciting. This post is kinda like the phrase, "If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all." Except just remove the word nice. Oscar the Grouch, remember? Now SCRAM!

Fun Monday 2nd Anniversary!

Today is the 2 year anniversary of Fun Monday. Julie at Another Chance Ranch is the hostess today and she would like us to show the view from our front door but not the view looking out our front door, but rather the view looking into our house from our front door!

I didn't do any cleaning so you get to see the true, real life view from my front door looking in!
If you want to see more inside views head over to Julies Ranch.

Better off Forgotten Friday

To quote some vintage Sesame Street,"One of these things is not like the others..." So what if what I want to do is similar to those "others". I don't follow rules to well. I have been know to follow "others" from time to time, but mostly because I don't like feeling left out, or like I'm missing out. Example: Nablopomo. You will see I didn't do it this year and was actually glad I missed out! I did participate in Fun Monday, and will again for the 2nd Anniversary, but there really aren't rules for Fun Monday and like the Great Magnificent Swampy says, "Rules are meant to be broken."
So after all the wonderful comments in my last post I have this to say, " But one of these kids is doing her own thing..." That is just what I am going to do, Sesame Street style, just like I've always done, well almost always!!

Thanks to Burgh Baby(or should I say Burgh Baby's Mom?) for the title of these posts that will air on Fridays. You know what? If you think this is a fun idea and want to humiliate yourself too, then please feel free to do it too. As I learned today I am not the only doh'tard out there that is willing to post embarrassing photos of oneself weekly. I also learned that brilliance lies in all of us...dormant in some but it is still there.

On with the show! What to show, what to show...oh the possibilities are endless!!Humiliating? No. But it went with my Sesame Street theme that I seem to have adopted in this post, so I ran with it! Oscar is my favorite. I had my own Oscar, with his own freakin' trash can, complete with lid! I could stuff him in and close the lid, or have him half hanging out sans lid, or just walk around hugging Oscar. Green is my favorite color. Actually Oscar green and pink together really kicks ass, and that is about the only way I like pink. I have quite a few embarrassing photos, but see the beauty of this being my thing I do on Fridays, I get to post whatever picture/s I want to.
"Now leave me alone and get lost."~Oscar the Grouch

Well fuck me!

I had this new series I was going to debut today, but before I started I googled to see what would come up under Flashback Friday. humph. There was this Friday Meme called Flashback Friday that even had buttons, but it looks like it fizzled out sometime mid 2008. Then I found this blog that is starting up a Flashback Friday at her place TODAY, complete with Mr.Linky and THEMES for each Friday. There is even a Flashback Friday Flicker group. So now that I feel oh so unoriginal, I'm not going to start it. I never intended to make it a meme/carnival, I was just going to share old ass embarrassing photos of me every Friday and call it Flashback Friday. I know I still could, it's not like anyone has a copyright on it, and if someone did it wouldn't stop me. Right at this very moment I am just pissed that something I thought was my fucking idea is the idea of thousands. There were more Flashback Fridays on that Google search I just stopped looking after the first 3. Yes, great minds think alike and all that, maybe next week I'll get over myself and start it anyway, or join that blogger(some of her themes were pretty good, and I immediately thought of photos that I would share).

As I have sat here, for a few minutes, reading some of her comments, I'm slowly beginning to get over myself. For an instant I thought of deleting this post and just doing one for her theme today. Then I thought,"Why should I deprive my readers of my rant and colorful language they have come to know and love?" So it stays and maybe I'll come back later with a flashback post.
I do want to share something my hubby said to me this morning. I was stirring up the PB and chocolate for Puppy chow and he walks up beside me and says, "I have to kill something with something, but I don't know what something I need to use to kill something." Analyze that!

Finally!!!

You know something just isn't right when the hubby starts blogging again and has more posts in one week then I do, or have had for MONTHS! He does have an advantage, his iPhone. He types up his posts anytime, anywhere, on his iPhone. Am I jealous? Just a bit.
I finally got my ass to the gym on Monday. After talking about going for the past year, here, here, here, and here, or even here. It felt good, I didn't over do it. I even think I might have taken it too easy. I am going back again today. I'll probably still take it easy, I don't want to over do it, or do something wrong and hurt myself. I already have back issues so I have to be careful. I am so happy that I have started going back! We'll see how long I can keep it up though! How did I know I was finally ready to hit the gym? The Wii Fit was just not enough for me. I'll still use the Wii Fit but only as a supplement for when I can't make it to the gym, or for something extra. It does work.

While going back in my archives today I saw that I blogged as much in 2008 as I did my first 7 months of blogging in 2007. I found that to be interesting. I guess that just shows that I did try to cut back, or maybe it's just because I feel I have nothing to blog about. My muse has left me again, fucking bitch! I blame the season too. I HATE Winter. I do have a new segment I may debut this Friday, and no I'm sorry to disappoint it won't be the return of "Get your Drink on." If you missed that series, or just want a refresher click here and you will be whisked away to all 12 posts I did in that series. Have a great hump day!

Not what I Expected

Lately there are a lot of things that have not turned out the way I expected. I mean my New Years Eve and New Years Day sucked big time. But that is a whole other story. One I will probably not share. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations, maybe they are too high. One thing I did not expect was the reaction that my son had when we told him that his Daddy is not his biological father. He was shocked, which I did expect that, but what I didn't expect was for him to tell me that he was glad that I chose Daddy and left what he calls his "biological whatever". He understands that our lives would be totally different if I had made a different choice, and he likes the way things are now. I am amazed and in awe. I do know that he will have more questions as he keeps getting older, and that the pain and anger that I feared may develop someday but at the moment it's "Alright for Now". (If you follow the link, on the right side is a play button that you'll have to press to hear the song.)

Thank you to everyone that sent their love and thoughts and hugs our way. I greatly appreciated it! Big smooches!!! I'm thankful for all of you!

Macro Monday

I might have one more close up in my archives to use in Lisa's Macro Monday after today. Well, unless I get to taking some more.

aaaahhhh grasshopper
