Oh yeah! It's Fun Monday! Get your Apron on! I am excited! I heart Aprons! The genius that came up with todays assignment is ChrisB at Ms Cellania who said,"show your aprons!"
Someday I will be able to afford ones like this seamstress makes, not that she is pricey I just don't have enough $$ to splurge on her lovely aprons right now. I was also thinking of trying to make my own for me and as gifts and if I got good to sell. Then I found her and others like her and I gave up on that idea.
The following 3 aprons were purchased at a thrift store. I really liked this one. It was what made me think I could make $$ making these. I thought it was such a great idea to add a washcloth to the apron as a hand towel to wipe you hand on. I know that an apron is for wiping your hands on and keeping your clothes clean, but I thought this was great! I also love those ity bity flower prints. I think I finally figured out the setting to make my pictures click able...try it out!

I loved the colors and the pleats and the design of the waist. It is gorgeous!

This one has the tiny flower print again. It made me think of my grandmothers aprons.

This is one of my Grandmothers aprons. She made it herself.

This is also another one made by my Grandma. I wish I would have learned how to sew while she was still alive.

I don't wear the last 2 often, but every once in a while I slip one on if I am making something she used to make.
Tea towels... I wish I had some from both my Grandmas but somehow I don't. The white ones with embroidery on them, that's what makes me think tea towels. I love kitchen towels with pictures or designs. I have Christmas themed ones, winter themed, summer, spring, and fall too. I won't show them all, just a few of my favorites.

So, I had to add a sunset picture as filler since I didn't take enough tea towel pictures! Up top next to the sunset is a gingerbread man towel, it is one of my many Christmas towels. Next to Gingy is a towel we received as part of a wedding gift from one of my Best friends. The orange wrinkly mess is my newest addition, I loved the wheat and the orange. The sunflower in the middle, it came in a 3 pack, and I love Sunflowers! The green one has a Turkey on it. The last 2 things are from Germany, the first is actually a place mat which I also have the same design as a table runner, last is a potholder. Not tea towels but still kitchen related!
I'm am off to ogle at aprons! Stop by Ms Cellania's she will show you where to go!

pretty towels!!! those trees do so well with the modeling dont they;) I like how you did that!!
Hmmm, I was expecting to read about people getting their aprons out of a trunk, I didn't expect to see anyone putting them on one.
Are you sure those last three are actually aprons? I've seen a women wear stuff just like that a WalMart.
great idea to tie them on a tree.
Isn't it interesting how many of us saved our grandmothers apron.
My mom's always smelled like Fels Naptha. I wonder how many people know what that is.
I love all your aprons and would wear them more often if I had some like that.
I love the way you have displayed your aprons and what a good idea adding a hand towel. I remember my mum and granny wearing wrap around overalls (-• Brit. a loose-fitting garment such as a smock worn typically over ordinary clothes for protection against dirt or heavy wear.) You have a great collection of tea towels as well.
what a great way to display your aprons, some really pretty ones too.
I like all your aprons. I've looked at the site you linked and quite a few others, but I keep thinking, "Nah, I could make one." The problem is that I probably never will. I did buy material to make several for gifts--last Christmas! That fabric is still sitting in my attic.
You did get some good buys at the thrift shop. I love your pictures of aprons in the trees. Even if you do not sew, aprons are not terrbly difficult to make. I like the idea of wearing your grandma's apron if you are making one of her specialities.
I love how you displayed your aprons and towels. :) They are so pretty!
Great collection! The tea towels are pretty.
I've never seen a tree model and apron. What a clever idea and I'll bet the tree never gets messy from cooking.
What does Fels Naptha smell like?
I love how you hung them outside like that. When I think of aprons I think of days gone by and my grandmother hanging her aprons on her clothesline and the smell of them when she brought them in. Mmmm. All great pictures!
wolfbaby: Thank you!
WT: Yes the last 3 are actually aprons not the Moo moos you see on some women. I will be having the hubby take photos of me in them to show you!
pamela: I had to Google Fels Naptha, I would probably have known what you were talking about if I could have smelled it! I bet one of my Grandmas used it.
beccy: Thank you! I need to wear them more often!
chrisb and her indoors: Thank you, thank you!!
jenni: I feel ya!
mjd: your comment may help me to someday try to make an apron. I like wearing my Grandmas apron when I'm cooking/baking something she made, makes me feel close to her, I miss her so...
debs: Thank you!!
nikki: Thank you! I thought my tea towels were normal and boring.
Swampy: I think I will have to find some Fels Naptha just to smell it! BTW I use all of my tea towels! I wouldn't use the embroidered old ones or antique ones!
joy t.: Thank you! If I had a clothesline I would have hung them there...but I thought the tree was next best, and the breeze helped me out a lot! Plus there was some other meaning behind me using the tree... no one has said it yet...
Great display-I love it! I was having model issues yesterday so I can appreciate your willing model.
Nice collection. I guess I need to be more aware of the vintage apron world.
Grandma's aprons are the best!!
And I love sunflowers, too!
your post made me think of my granny. loved her little house dresses and aprons with butterscotch candy in the pockets...~R
My fave thing about this post?? That you hung them on the tree!! LOve it!
What a neat idea to display on your tree. I LOVE it!
You have so many neat aprons. I'm jealous!
Thanks for sharing.
Happy Fun Monday!
Those are nice aprons. I like the ones that don't have a tie sitting on the back of the neck (like my Pampered Chef one does). Thanks for linking to the seamstress; there were many great ideas on there. My sister has made quite a few without neck ties.
I have that same gingerbread towel, how cool is that. We use it as a kitchen hand drying towel in winter.
I am totally loving that you put your aprons on TREES...so well dressed!
Wow, your trees are well protected in the event of splatter aren't they.
Nice collection.
beckie:Thank you! It's ok if you don't become too aware...that's more vintage aprons for me to find!!
stephanie: yes they are!
robinella: glad my post made you think of your Grandma.
rachel: yeah, me too!
jenniboo: thank you!
dawn: thanks! I don't like the ones that tie at the neck either! You are welcome, I love her work. That is cool, I use mine the saw way you do!
tiggerlane: glad you loved it as much as I did.
theotherbear: yes they are!
robocop:thank you! I also have to say that you are too sweet to come here and comment on aprons as a way of acknowledging my comment on your blog!
Funnest way I've seen them displayed (I'm still trying to visit everyone's apron posts, but I'm afraid I might lose the challenge :/). Have you seen Miss Lion Heart's? Oh, my, no trees for her!
You have a wonderful collection of aprons, tea towels AND memories. Your affections flowed through your words.
Can't wait to see YOUR apron when you've completed it!! Chop chop, get to work! :)
