Get Your Drink On!

For those that might stumble upon my blog during the season of Nablopomo, I feature an alcoholic drink on Friday's. I usually try to pick an unusual named one, take photos and give my own review etc. Today is really Nablomyno day...Blow my Nose...That's right, as if posting everyday for the entire month wasn't bad enough I started feeling a cold coming on yesterday. I bought Zicam and that didn't do shit. Maybe I need more, cuz it's still coming and is getting worse. So, on the first day of Nablome I started getting a cold AND my Aunt came knocking on my door and No the bitch didn't have chicken noodle soup.

This all means that I do not feel like getting my drink on. I need a shit load of Ibuprofen and possibly a Screwdriver. I am sure most of you know what that is and I mean the drink not the tool. But in case there is someone out there that doesn't yet know what it is let me give a quick how to.

Get a highball glass, but any glass that holds 6 to 8 oz will do. Put in a few ice cubes add 2 oz of vodka and 5 to 6 oz Orange Juice. Consume.

I'm off to self medicate. 2 Nablomedown 28 to go.

Screwdrivers are one of my favorites. Maybe a hot toddy would be more what you need though?

Ooh, if you mix strawberry soda and vodka, it tastes like cough syrup. You could try that. Yes, I actually had this once. This is what happens when you have teenagers rummaging the cabinets for whatever they can find to mix up a drink. It was pretty bad, but it tasted familiar, so I just kept drinking it to try to figure out what the taste was. By the last sip I'd figured out that it was cough syrup:oD

I hope you feel better soon!

Hope you start feeling better soon! In my hard partying days, screwdrivers or greyhounds were ingested in copious amounts when illness hit. Couldn't let a cold stop me. Oh, thank goodness those days are done!

Keep hitting the Zicam - you will get over the worst part of the cold quicker.

Geez, you and Melissa.

Yep - screwdrivers will help. All that vitamin C? Awesome.

Hope you get to feeling better!

I was sent home from work with an respiratory infection. If I had some Stoli, and OJ, I would make two screwdrivers. One for me to self medicate, and one for Debs to put up with me.

If you got the Ibuprofen without the child-proof lid you wouldn't need the screwdriver.

Screwdrivers used to be my drink of choice. I used a little more vodka than that, though. I think mine were just the opposite of your recipe. :-O

Since you read my post today, then you know why you may have gotten 3 emails. It's all screwed up and we don't officially have DSL email (although I can get on line) until the 6th, I think.

Oh well. Happy 2nd FloBloMe day.

So sorry to hear you're sick. I'm struggling with something for NaBloPoMo today without feeling like crap.

Hot Brazilian makes a "tea" when I'm sick and I feel better in a day or so when I drink it (just had to do this last Monday morning). It's not very good, but it seems to work. Take a coffee cup amount of water and boil it in a pot with a lemon squeezed and sliced up and a couple of cloves of garlic in it. Put some honey in your coffee cup and strain the boiled "tea" into the cup, stir, and drink up. It kind of tastes like old socks, but it makes me feel better pretty quickly. (Note: I don't really know what old socks taste like for the record.)

Visiting all my fellow Fun Monday'ers on the NaBloPoMo list and am sitting here splitting a gut at your "NaBloMyNo". OMG that cracks me up. And I used to drink Screwdrivers all the time in my teenage years. Lots of great memories were made drinking all those Screwdrivers :o) Hope you're feeling better soon!
