Last summer I had secret. Maybe it was more like a guilty pleasure. I could only partake in my guilty pleasure when I was alone in my car. With my windows down everyone outside of my car could hear what my guilty pleasure was. I didn't give a damn either. What was my guilty pleasure? Well, I can't embed it so you'll have to follow the link to my guilty pleasure.
Oh yeah. I rocked out! I still do. What really fucking sucks is that I can't listen to it in the car when any of my boys are in the car with me. Not that I can't, I refuse.
But what really gets me is that I will listen to this when they are in the car...
Did you listen to the entire song? Please do. If you don't you will not understand how royally screwed up I am. Or that I am the Mom of the kids at school that are teaching the others all the really bad raunchy words.
Honestly, I have only listened to it twice with them in the car before the light bulb went off in my twisted lil' head. My problem? My Middle Man L.O.V.E.S. that song. This is the same little boy that at 12 months would bang his head to this song.
So this is the bleeped version but you get the idea.
I am corrupting my kids. On the other hand I do not believe in censorship. See the conflict?
Since I'm divulging secrets, I might as well get it out that those 2 bad boys get me all hot and bothered.
I feel better now that I have all that off my chest!

I wasn't going to comment because, well.... I don't comment much anymore, but after I listened to what the guilty pleasure song was I laughed my ass off. That song is a regular at our house. My 13 year old and her friends started listening to it and then it sort of caught on with the rest of us. No censorship here.
I'm still laughing.
Well, I have no problem with foul language. I guess I'm more concerned with content and ideas. That's probably hypocritical considering some of the songs I like, but there it is. I've never really censored what the kids listen to anyway. We do talk about things as they come up, and they know what I approve of and what I don't. I let them form their own opinions and conclusions though.
I Kissed a Girl has a very catchy tune. I don't go for that girl on girl kind of thing, so it's annoying to get the tune stuck in my head. Although it's softer, I don't like the overall message whether it's guy/girl or girl/girl. Again, I know that's probably hypocritical. I'll have to go do some serious YouTube surfing and deep soul searching.
Caleb once observed that all of my favorite songs are about sex. Well, okay, sex is good. One big difference for me is how it's talked about. I usually find rap songs much more vulgar than rock songs and it seems women are more objectified in rap.
All this to say, I'm not the least bit horrified that you let your kids listen to these songs. There are some songs I won't listen to, but it's not because my kids are in the car.
i TOTALLY rock out to katy perry. i find it amusing to sing it with roo -- but the funniest is to hear the drama king sing it.
*snort*
Punkin loves I Kissed A Girl. He did ask why she was singing about kissing a girl and I just told him because she did.
Seemed to satisfy his curiosity. Now if I can just remember to turn off Howard Stern before he gets in the car I'll think I'm doing good!
I let Aaron listen to way more than I should. Hence the whole "back door man" comment.....
